What are the responsibilities and job description for the Opto-Mechanical Technician position at TechIntelli Solutions Inc?
Job Details
Position Overview:
- We are seeking a skilled and motivated Opto-Mechanical Technician to support our R&D and testing operations.
- The ideal candidate will have hands-on experience in reliability testing, proficiency with testing both passive and active photonic integrated circuits at the die level, and expertise in working with optics, electronics, and mechanical systems.
Key Responsibilities:
- Photonic Integrated Circuit Testing: Perform electrical and optical testing on photonic integrated circuits at the die level. Set up and calibrate testing equipment to ensure accurate measurements of device performance. Troubleshoot and resolve issues during testing, ensuring data integrity and quality. Develop and document new design-for-test (DFT) methodologies to measure device characteristics within specified tolerances.
- Optics and Electronics Testing: Operate and maintain a variety of test equipment, such as optical spectrum analyzers, power meters, oscilloscopes. Align optical components and configure test setups for PICs and related devices.
- Mechanical Design and Integration: Assist in the design and optimization of mechanical packaging solutions for photonic and electronic components. Tasks include:
- Designing mechanical interfaces using CAD tools such as SolidWorks and AutoCAD to ensure precise optical alignment, structural stability, and thermal management.
- Selecting appropriate materials for thermal conductivity, electrical insulation, and environmental resistance.
- Supporting the development of hermetic or environmentally sealed packages to protect components from dust, moisture, and contaminants.
- Contributing to the mechanical integration of components into larger systems while maintaining alignment and performance standards.
- Data Collection and Reporting: Record test data and assist in analyzing results to identify performance trends. Document testing procedures, results, and any observed anomalies in detailed reports.
- Team Collaboration: Work closely with engineers and researchers to improve testing protocols and provide feedback on device performance. Support prototyping and assembly tasks as needed to meet project deadlines.
Desired Skills:
- Proven experience working with opto-mechanical components and assembling setups involving free-space optical systems, multi-axis stages for precise alignment and operation, and imaging systems.
- Hands-on experience in mechanical design for photonic/electronic packaging, including material selection, CAD design, thermal and mechanical analysis, and environmental sealing techniques.
- Experience in automating and controlling test instruments using Python or similar programming languages for efficient and accurate data acquisition and analysis.
- Familiarity with relational databases for tracking measurement results across multiple testing platforms and design iterations.
Preferred Skills:
Experience in optomechanical assembly, fiber attachment, and precision alignment, particularly in the context of silicon photonics
