Sr. Engineer – Closures Structures
Location: Southfield Michigan | Experience: 5 years
Seeking a Sr. Closures Structures Engineer to design and develop automotive closures like hoods, fenders, doors, decklids, and liftgates, focusing on aluminum and composite materials.
Key Responsibilities:
- Design & Development – Create optimized closures structures ensuring performance, durability, and cost efficiency.
- Cross-Functional Collaboration – Work with safety, dynamics, NVH, manufacturing, and suppliers to integrate systems.
- Engineering Analysis – Use CAE tools (ANSYS, OptiStruct, MATLAB, ADAMS) to guide design improvements.
- Validation & Testing – Develop testing plans, GD&T tolerance analysis, and prototype assembly.
- Manufacturing & Supplier Coordination – Ensure seamless production and tool buy-offs.
Qualifications:
- 5 years in closures design (OEM or Tier 1)
- Expert in CATIA V5/V6 & Class A surfaces
- Strong problem-solving & project management skills
- Hands-on experience in prototype & production assembly
- Bachelor’s in Mechanical/Aerospace Engineering (ABET preferred)
