Job Overview
The Instrument Assembler 3 will perform a variety of tasks, ranging from repetitive to non-repetitive production assembly operations on electronic and/or mechanical assemblies and subassemblies. Tasks include wiring, component installation, hand soldering, cable harnessing, and assembly fitting using diagrams, drawings, and hand/power tools. The role also involves conducting quality inspections, troubleshooting, disassembling, and testing experimental or prototype assemblies to ensure adherence to blueprint specifications.
Responsibilities and Duties
- Assemble multiple product lines, including integration of subassemblies into instruments.
- Build, integrate, and understand the entire assembly process for production instruments.
- Maintain accurate device history records, including serial numbers and tool reporting.
- Conduct basic component testing of pre-assemblies and simple modules.
- Identify defects and recommend improvements for design and processes.
- Read and interpret drawings, work instructions, and workmanship standards.
- Provide training to associates on mechanical and basic testing activities.
- Execute test instructions, analyze results, and determine next steps.
- Perform routine and moderately complex troubleshooting and repairs.
- Handle material processing and manage raw materials and subassemblies.
- Ensure compliance with GMP, safety policies, and quality standards.
- Maintain a clean, safe, and efficient work environment.
- Participate in continuous improvement initiatives (e.g., Kaizen, CI projects).
- Support cross-functional teams, including Manufacturing Engineering and Quality.
- Perform other related tasks as required.
Qualifications
Minimum Education/Experience:
- High school diploma or GED with 4 years of manufacturing experience, OR
- Associate's technical degree with 1 year
- of experience in a regulated environment.
Basic Skills:
- Proven leadership skills with the ability to mentor and coach team members.
- Strong accountability and results-driven mindset to enhance team performance.
- Hands-on experience in Lean Manufacturing and Continuous Improvement initiatives.
- Proficiency with mechanical tools (torque drivers, gauges, etc.) and reading drawings.
- Ability to work effectively in a team setting and follow quality procedures.
- Time management skills to handle multiple production orders within deadlines.
Proficient/Working Skills:
- Proficiency in English (reading, writing, and basic arithmetic).
- Familiarity with PCs and Windows operating systems.
- Ability to use independent judgment for decision-making and troubleshooting.
- Physical capability to work in a repetitive environment and stand for long periods.
