What are the responsibilities and job description for the Analytical Chemist position at TechNexus?
The Lead Materials Engineering Technician role emphasizes hands-on use of various analytical tools to support both the inspection of production materials and engineering evaluations, including failure analysis. While the primary assignment will be in the Polymers and Chemistry Labs, the role may extend to supporting other labs, such as XRF, Metals, and Fluids, as required. The candidate will collaborate with other Technicians, Engineers, and personnel from different departments. The ideal candidate should be self-driven and capable of managing tasks with minimal supervision.
The preferred candidate will possess substantial hands-on experience with a broad range of analytical instruments and techniques, with special consideration given to expertise in polymers testing and chemistry. Proficiency in areas like metallography, mechanical testing, XRF, FTIR, and SEM will also be valuable.
As a Lead Technician, responsibilities will include mentoring and guiding other Technicians in daily operations and occasionally taking on limited engineering roles to support business needs.
Qualifications:
- High School Diploma or GED
- At least 5 years of hands-on laboratory experience in Polymer testing (e.g., DSC, TGA, TMA) or Analytical chemistry (e.g., IC, GC/MS, ICP)
Desired Attributes:
- Associate's degree or higher
- Experience with aerospace materials and processes
- Familiarity with additional laboratory techniques/instrumentation such as metallography, FTIR, SEM, etc.
- Experience with laboratory information management systems
