We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Lighting Department Manager to join our team at Technical Arts Group. As the Lighting Department Manager, you will play a pivotal role in ensuring the smooth operation of lighting equipment and systems for our events and rentals. You will work closely with your team and supervise the Lighting Department, collaborate with other teams, and report to the Shop Management.
Responsibilities:
- Manage the employees in your team and workflow of the department
- Operate, maintain, and repair the lighting systems, ensuring their optimal performance throughout events.
- Conduct quality control checks on all lighting parts and equipment, ensuring they meet our high standards and are in proper working condition.
- Ensure that the lighting department maintains integrity in all aspects, including equipment setup, lighting product quality, and execution.
- Familiarize yourself with company policies regarding safety and ensure compliance within the lighting department.
- Work with the entire shop team to foster a positive, enjoyable, and rewarding environment for all staff members.
- Perform other duties as assigned to contribute to the overall success of the events and the company.
- Teach and improve the workers in your department to make them better employees
- Follow company protocol and meet all department requirements and deadlines
- For departing and incoming orders, pull and stage equipment for shows quickly and efficiently using our inventory system
- Test all equipment when it comes in to the warehouse, including new and returned
- Diagnose, log, and repair damaged items
- Able to reach out to vendors for equipment repairs
- Keep department in orderly efficient manner
- Able to assist / teach department hands
- Able to learn new equipment when needed
- Move gear for shows to proper prep and or staging areas
- Able to use variety of hand tools
Qualifications:
- Must have 3-5 years of experience working with theatrical and event lighting equipment, dry-hire background a plus
- Must speak English
- Must have 1-2 years management experience
- Able to lift / move minimum 50lbs on a regular basis
- Willing to work hard
- Basic computer knowledge
- Able to learn and operate Inventory Software
- Able to work late / weekends during peak seasons / busy weeks
- Team leadership skills
- Must meet deadlines and quick turnarounds
- The capacity to multitask and pay attention to detail are critical
- A high school diploma or an equivalent qualification preferred
- Ability to stand or move for up to 100 percent of work time, 8 hours daily: Frequent use of hand tools, bending, stooping, lifting, climbing stairs, carrying, walking, and/or reaching are all examples of physical activity
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $80,000.00 - $90,000.00 per year
