Job Responsibilities
Job Purpose :
The Director, Military and Veteran Programs is responsible for developing, implementing and ensuring fulfillment of TCL's strategies and policies related to the military affiliated student population (active duty servicemembers, veterans, and dependents of both). Serve as the subject matter expert resource to the campus community for strategies for working with military affiliated students.
Job Functions :
- Directs and manages the day to day operations, activities, promotional efforts and services related to military affiliated students.
- Oversees all recruiting events and initiatives geared toward miliary affiliated students (i.e. base education fairs, military transition seminars, military appreciation day, etc.).
- Assess, monitor and track the performance and needs of the current military affiliated student population, acting on an individual basis or recommending new initiatives affecting the entire population based on identified needs. Partner with other services on campus and in the community to serve military affiliated students.
- Act as the principal advisor for the Student Veterans of America Chapter at the college. Collaborate with other program areas on activities to enhance the overall college experience / inclusion of military affiliated students.
- Select, supervise, train and evaluate personnel. Lead, coach and mentor assigned staff in the performance of their duties.
- Establishes and reviews policy and procedures to ensure conformance with state, federal and institution guidelines. Remain abreast of legislative changes not only related to VA educational benefits, but also other VA benefits with the potential to impact TCL's holistic approach to serving the military affiliated student population.
- Serve as the College's military liaison to local, county, and regional entities (i.e. Beaufort Chamber of Commerce, Military Enhancement Committee, and Defense Community Partnership Project) as directed by the College President.
- Perform other duties as may be directed by Vice President, and or President.
Minimum and Additional Requirements
A bachelor's degree and experience in student services programs.
Preferred Qualifications
Preferred : A bachelor's degree with 3 to 5 years of experience in student services and prior military or military affiliated experience.
