POSITION OVERVIEW
To support the Metallurgical Staff in processing, creating, and analyzing samples from a Concentrator plant. Upon successful completion of training, the candidate will be able to operate the station solely in a safe manner.
ESSENTIAL JOB DUTIES
- Performing all functions of a Metallurgical Technician I
- Performing flotation testing both at laboratory and plant scale
- Create inventory reports on reagents
- Generate plant survey reports and recommendations
- Train new metallurgical staff
- By examining flotation equipment write reports on current wear
- Ability to prepare samples and complete basic sample analysis procedures, understanding cross contamination fundamentals
TOOLS AND EQUIPMENT USED:
A wide range of laboratory crushing, grinding, screening, flotation, etc., mineral processing equipment, as well as the analytical devices used to measure results. Computers.
MATERIALS USED:
Water and air hoses, hand tools, rags, reagents, vacuum equipment, compressed air, rubber, iron, steel, aluminum, and water.
REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE SKILLS AND ABILITIES
- Previous experience with metallurgical laboratory testing of at least 1 year
- Must be able to work alone in a safe, meticulous, and precise manner. Tasks performed are repeatable in nature
- Communicate clearly both written and verbally to supervisors and management
- Must dependably work a weekend day shift schedule, typically 4 days on/ 4 days off
- Must be able to take multiple directives and follow instructions with precision
- Must have MS Office computer skills (Windows, Word, Excel, and Outlook)
- Must be able to manage time effectively and set priorities
- Requires the ability to manage multiple tasks
ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS:
- Must have a valid driver's license
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Safety Sensitive position requiring all persons assigned to activity be drug free
- MSHA certification preferred and will be required to obtain during 1st or 1st 3 days of employment
PHYSICAL AND ENVIRONMENTAL JOB REQUIREMENTS:
- Standing, bending, stooping, reaching, twisting, pushing, pulling, carrying and moving items of up to 50 lbs and more
- Must be able to work in adverse weather conditions; dusty, hot weather
- Ability to perform essential job functions in an environment with varied noise levels
