Become part of an elite team at the Naval Diving and Salvage Training Center (NDSTC) in Panama City, Florida, where you'll transform candidates into qualified military divers. As a Dive Instructor, you'll play a crucial role in developing the skills and knowledge essential for underwater operations across all military services.
This challenging position allows you to:
- Deliver hands-on instruction in multiple diving systems including SCUBA, MK-16, MK-25, and surface-supplied diving equipment
- Train future divers in both pool and open-water environments
- Develop critical thinking and problem-solving skills in high-pressure situations
- Shape the future of military diving through direct student interaction
- Contribute to curriculum development and training improvement
Key Responsibilities:
- Conduct diving instruction in multiple environments and conditions
- Maintain qualification in various diving systems (SCUBA, MK16, MK25, Surface Supplied)
- Perform a minimum of eight dives per year
- Ensure strict adherence to U.S. Navy Diving Manual procedures
- Monitor student progress and provide remediation when needed
- Maintain diving equipment and support systems
- Document training evolutions and student performance
- Participate in curriculum development and improvement initiatives
Required Qualifications:
- Graduate of U.S. Armed Forces First Class Diver or higher qualification
- Minimum 6 years of active duty Military First Class Diver or Diving Medical Technician (DMT) experience
- Current within 5 years of military diving experience
- Graduate of military instructor training course or civilian equivalent
- Must maintain diving physical qualification standards
- Must pass physical/psychological examination and drug screening
- Current CPR certification
- Qualify as Navy Material Maintenance Management (3-M) 301 Maintenance Person within 30 days
