Position Overview:

A well-established manufacturing company in Laconia, NH is seeking a proactive and detail-oriented Buyer/Planner to join their team. This is a critical role within the organization, responsible for ensuring that all production material needs are forecasted, planned, and stocked in a timely manner. The ideal candidate will be adept at managing inventory, utilizing ERP systems for forecasting and procurement, and adjusting production schedules as necessary to prevent delays.

As the Buyer/Planner, you will collaborate closely with the Purchasing Manager, Controller, and other key departments to ensure smooth operations. This role offers a combination of office-based responsibilities and hands-on involvement in ensuring the production process runs efficiently.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Forecasting and Material Planning: Utilize ERP systems to accurately forecast material requirements for upcoming production needs. Proactively plan purchases to ensure materials are available when needed, minimizing downtime.

  • Inventory Monitoring: Regularly monitor and track inventory levels. Anticipate when new materials will be required, and manage reorder points to maintain efficient stock levels without overstocking.

  • Production Schedule Adjustments: Review material availability regularly and adjust production schedules as needed to prevent production delays or bottlenecks due to material shortages.

  • Collaboration with Cross-Functional Teams: Work closely with the Purchasing Manager, Controller, and production teams to ensure timely availability of materials. Communicate potential supply chain issues and work on resolutions.

  • Procurement Responsibilities: Handle the purchasing of raw materials, in coordination with internal teams to ensure production lines are fully stocked and operational.

  • Hands-On Involvement: While the role is primarily office-based (60%), you will spend approximately 40% of your time working on-site, ensuring that materials are properly stocked and accessible for production use.

Required Skills and Qualifications:

  • Experience with ERP Systems: Strong knowledge of ERP systems, including the ability to effectively plan, forecast, and manage material purchasing and inventory. Experience with specific ERP systems in manufacturing environments is a plus.

  • Inventory Management Expertise: Proven ability to monitor and manage inventory levels, ensuring that material needs are met without overstocking.

  • Strong Communication Skills: Ability to effectively communicate across departments, particularly with production teams, to ensure that the right materials are in place for timely production.

  • Problem-Solving Skills: Capacity to adapt and make adjustments to production schedules based on material availability and other factors. Ability to resolve issues proactively.

  • Hands-On Experience in Manufacturing: A general understanding of manufacturing processes and materials handling is essential.

  • Time Management: Strong organizational skills, with the ability to balance office-based work with hands-on tasks on the production floor.

Shift Details:

  • Standard Shift Hours: 7:00 AM - 3:30 PM (flexibility to shift to 8:00 AM - 5:00 PM if needed).

What We Offer:

  • Competitive compensation package with room for salary growth.
  • A collaborative and supportive work environment.
  • Opportunities for career advancement within a growing company.
  • The chance to play an integral role in improving and streamlining production processes.
