POSITION SUMMARY & JOB DUTIES:
- Responsibility to staff and direct the team to
- Control overall spare parts and management of the tool room for the plant including the development, performance, and maintenance of the tool room and maximizing performance & profitability against pre-agreed targets and control.
- Ensure that the team understands the tool room's mechanism, their role within the organization, and the duties of your team's responsibility to adhere to budgets and plan to maximize profitability.
- Meet your targets and those of the tooling team.
- The smooth running of the tool room team.
- Contribute to training and development of the tool room team.
- Maintain responsibility for performing all duties in compliance with related legal/statutory, regulations, professional duties, responsibilities, and obligations and insert as applicable e.g. ISO certification.
- Day-to-day responsibilities include:
- Manage, direct, and monitor the tool room for the plant including the development, performance, and maintenance of the tool room and stock of spare components, maximizing performance and minimizing costs against pre-agreed targets and controls.
- Effective liaison, support, and assistance with all plant tooling.
- Maintain and improve tooling PM schedules.
- Utilize and manage the Plex ERP system to manage the tool room PMs.
- Support to all other departments with related issues
- Reporting monthly or as otherwise required.
- Delegate authority and responsibility to the team with supervision, accountability, and review.
- Manage and maintain contact with internal and external suppliers.
- Maintain accurate records.
- Adhere to all organization policies and procedures.
- Interact and cooperate with all members of the organization, its suppliers, and customers.
- From time to time you may be expected to be part of special projects as are reasonably required of your job role.
- Study specifications such as blueprints, sketches, models, or descriptions and visualize the product to determine the required materials and machines to fabricate parts.
- Compute dimensions, plan layout, and determine assembly method and sequence of operations.
- Measure, mark, and scribe metal stock for machining.
- Set up and operate machine tools such as lathes, milling machines, and grinders.
- Verify conformance of machined parts to specifications.
- Fabrication of any extra tooling needed.
- Diagnose urgent tooling issues.
Qualifications
QUALIFICATIONS:
- State-accredited Tool and Die Journeyman card or equivalent on-the-job experience
- Such experience is evaluated at the time of hire by the upper management
- Knowledge of metalworking and metalworking equipment
- Ability to work with minimal supervision in a deadline-oriented environment and display good decision-making skills
- Compressed Gas, Hot Work, Welding Safety training
- Cranes Overhead and Gantry training
- Tow Motor Certification
- Tool Maker OJT
