Zone Leader - 1st Shift

SUMMARY OF POSITION:
The Zone Leader oversees a work cell or area. They must be familiar with all jobs in the area and safely perform all functions, including setup and quality checks.The Zone Leader ensures support for employees and production activities, promptly escalating any line stoppages to the area Focus Factory Leader.
JOB DUTIES & ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

- Ensure highest level of productivity in a work area.
- Coordinate and execute all necessary preparations for die and machine changeovers, including paperwork, fixtures, dies, and materials.
- Assist with the exchange of racks and the replenishment of small lot containers at the line.
- Perform troubleshooting and make minor adjustments to the machine. Contact support groups if necessary.
- Assist the Focus Factory Leader in reallocating manpower within the work area to ensure optimal utilization.
- Regularly check equipment and tools for necessary preventive maintenance and repairs.
- Keep track of the inventory levels of all component parts used in assembly.
- Notify the Materials Department at least 24 hours in advance when items are running low.
- Communicate concerns, issues, and opportunities to Focus Factory Leaders, such as harassment, horseplay, wasting company time, and violations of safety rules.
- Execute specific production tasks during breaks to cover for absenteeism or as required.
- Ensure all operations in assigned areas can perform within the designated cycle time.
- Establish and maintain safety processes and records, while auditing employee PPE usage.
- Keep the housekeeping and equipment organized and in good condition in the assigned work areas.
- Maintain the highest quality standards in the work area and ensure that presses or welding tools are operational by promptly addressing all quality issues.
- Please make sure to conduct hourly checks and verify their accuracy.
- Maintain problem-solving boards and other boards for assigned areas.
- Develop and implement strategies to address both short-term and long-term issues.
- Audit and train employees in area on standardized work instructions, safety, quality, and productivity practices.
- Facilitate daily communication meetings with employees and continuous improvement activities with the Focus Factory Leader. The meetings will cover topics such as safety, quality, productivity, and concerns or improvements related to equipment.
- Set an example by demonstrating model behavior and following company policies and procedures.
- Create and uphold standardized tasks and work assignments.
- Confidential information shared with the Zone Lead must remain private. Personal and private details should only be discussed with the assigned Focus Factory Leader or a Human Resources Representative.
Qualifications
QUALIFICATIONS (KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES):
- High school diploma or equivalent required; three months of related experience and/or training preferred; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Leadership qualities that are strong.
- The ability to build strong relationships with both customers and employees.
- Able and willing to work flexible and extended hours as required.
- Attendance record in last rolling 12 months is satisfactory. Unsatisfactory attendance as defined by the Company’s Attendance Policy may result in loss of assigned Zone Leader position.
- Proven expertise in executing all tasks within the team, along with a solid understanding of the quality requirements and procedures in the work cell or area.
- Demonstrated understanding & working knowledge of plant Safety requirements/procedures.
- Understanding of the necessary personal protective equipment (PPE) essential for every job.
- Demonstrated knowledge of Lock Out/Tag Out procedure for all equipment in Team’s work cell/area.
- Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively verbally and in writing.
- Demonstrates continuous improvement attitude toward his/her work.
