Job Overview :
We are seeking a highly skilled Senior / Lead Quality Assurance (QA) Engineer to support a retail billing application project in the Utility industry. The ideal candidate will have strong manual testing experience and a deep understanding of utility and retail billing systems. You will work within an Agile team, collaborating with a Product Owner, Scrum Master, and 4 5 Developers to ensure the highest quality deliverables. This is a remote role with minimal travel to corporate offices as needed.
Key Responsibilities :
Lead and execute manual testing efforts for a complex retail billing application.
Develop, document, and execute detailed test plans, test cases, and test scripts based on business requirements and user stories.
Work closely with developers, product owners, and business analysts to ensure clear understanding of functional requirements and acceptance criteria.
Identify, document, and track defects in a test management system and work with developers to resolve issues.
Perform end-to-end testing of billing cycles, rate calculations, invoices, and payment processing within the retail energy / utility domain.
Validate data integrity across multiple integrated systems, ensuring accurate billing calculations and customer account management.
Participate in daily stand-ups, sprint planning, and retrospectives as part of the Agile team.
Assist in UAT (User Acceptance Testing), collaborating with business stakeholders to validate system behavior.
Provide mentorship to junior QA team members and help establish best practices for manual testing.
Ensure compliance with industry standards, regulations, and best practices for utility billing systems.
Required Skills & Experience :
12 years of experience in Software QA, with a focus on manual testing.
Utility industry experience is highly preferred, especially in retail billing applications.
Strong knowledge of billing cycles, invoicing, payment processing, and account management in the utility space.
Hands-on experience in testing large-scale enterprise applications.
Ability to write clear, concise, and comprehensive test cases.
Experience working in Agile (Scrum) development teams.
Proficiency in using JIRA, TestRail, or similar test management tools.
Strong troubleshooting skills, with the ability to analyze logs, databases, and system behavior.
Basic SQL knowledge to validate database records and perform data integrity checks.
Excellent communication skills, with the ability to interact effectively with cross-functional teams.
