Job Title: Cybersecurity Instructor
Location: Remote - Instructors work part-time, are offered flexible work schedules, and conduct training remotely from the location of their choosing.
Job Type: Contract role - Part -time (20-40 hrs/ week)
Start Date: April 10th
We seek multiple, dedicated, and knowledgeable Cybersecurity Instructors to join our team in support of the Accelerating Cyber Careers project. These positions offer experienced cybersecurity professionals an opportunity to support the training of the next generation of cyber professionals. Instructors work part time, are offered flexible work schedules, and conduct training remotely from the location of their choosing.
Key Responsibilities:
Phase 1: Cyber Range Pre-Study (4 Hours)
- Guide participants through self-paced training, ensuring they acquire the necessary skills and knowledge to manipulate the tools used in the cyber range.
- Promote program participant understanding of critical monitoring and administration tools integral to range operation, including MS active directory, Linux command line, Splunk, network firewalls, routers, and network switches.
- Apply principles of adult learning in CLIENT Cyber course presentations and provide feedback on the course curriculum to the development team.
Phase 2: Range Experience (8-Hour sessions)
- Manage instructor-led, four-hour, Security Operations Center (SOC) experience using the CLIENT Cyber Series 3000 range.
- Facilitate SOC experience four-hour range scenarios, instructing participants in detecting, mitigating, and remediating cyber threats as part of a five-member SOC team.
- Provide participants with real-time feedback and summaries at the end of each exercise to enhance learning outcomes.
- Ensure participants understand and effectively use various cybersecurity tools and technologies during the range sessions.
Administrative Information
- Phase 1 sessions consist of one-hour review sessions. Up to 20 students may participate in Phase 1 sessions.
- Phase 2 (SOC scenario) experiences last four hours, SOC cyber range experiences are provided to five participants at a time.
- Training is conducted between 8 and 5, both weekdays and weekends.
- Phase 1 and Phase 2 training schedules are posted online, and Instructors identify and reserve sessions they’d like to conduct. Instructors are required to schedule a minimum of ten Phase 2 sessions per month.
- Instructors are required to participate in two 4-hour training sessions as well as review CLIENT Cyber provided training materials.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Cybersecurity, Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field OR relevant certifications (e.g., CISSP, CISM, CompTIA Security , Network ) and appropriate experience is required.
- At least (3) three years of professional experience in cybersecurity, with hands-on networking, administration tools, penetration testing, risk management, and incident response experience.
- Teaching/training experience is desirable.
- Demonstrated communication and presentation skills, with the ability to explain complex concepts in a clear and engaging manner.
