Position Description: Dispatcher / Supply Chain
Description: PVS Technologies Dispatcher, manages scheduling of drivers, influencing a strong safety culture, developing, and managing reports in Excel, and providing fluent communication between the drivers, customer service and management team. Dispatcher communicates closely with mills to ensure proper volumes are maintained and reports to the Operations Manager, works closely with Mill to ensure both fresh and waste inventories are properly kept, reviews common carrier freight invoices for accuracy and evaluates best cost scenarios for freight management.
Responsibilities:
- Assist in the documentation of procedures and policies modeling and teaching the Nicholson Nine values in all activities. Carrying out responsibilities in accordance with the department's policies and applicable laws.
- Monitor daily workflow/XRS and TMW, schedule and dispatch drivers start time, load and delivery times, and same day load requests
- Partner with drivers to manage and maximize Hours of Service
- Monitor daily progress of drivers, being cross trained in all markets
- Print next day BOL’s, reviewing for special instructions and place in corresponding mailboxes
- Ensure proper C of A is attached to BOL
- If late loads occur, send email and contact CS group about late load
- If changes occur, update dispatch sheets with all changes
- Contact CS about cancelled loads, product pickups and PO’s.
- Work with Transportation Manager to schedule OOS equipment testing
- issue weekly on-time report and mill levels report
- Communicate with mills daily on levels and adjust dispatch as needed
- Other duties as assigned
Qualifications:

Skills Needed:
- Solid understanding of the D.O.T. rules and regulations, the driver logbook, and possess the ability to read driver logs and identify errors.
- Fluent in Microsoft Excel, Word and PowerPoint.
- Ability to operate in a mainframe and PC environment required.
- Ability to have a flexible work schedule, being on call by phone 24/7
- Must have experience in scheduling and dispatching trucks and drivers.
- 1-3 years’ experience in the transportation or logistics field. Transportation Management System experience is a plus.
LANGUAGE SKILLS:
Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers, suppliers, during audits and/or employee organizations.
REASONING ABILITY:
Ability to apply commonsense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form. Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.
