OTI’s Cyber Command division is seeking a Cyber Risk College Aide to build and strengthen its cybersecurity risk management processes. The Cyber Risk College Aide will be crucial to strengthening governance and risk capabilities at Cyber Command and will be instrumental to bringing a risk-based approach and skill to the practice.
Responsibilities may include but not limited to:
- Work with the Senior Advisor in the Office of the CISO on building and supporting mission-critical cybersecurity risk management functions, which will be leveraged by the entire City;
- Help design and streamline risk assessments, develop risk scales, and assist in evaluating risks;
- Assist with special projects and initiatives as assigned.
HOURS/SHIFT
Day - No student shall be employed more than half-time in any week in which classes in which the student is enrolled are in session. Students may be employed full-time during their vacation periods

Minimum Qualifications
For Assignment Level I:
Matriculation at an accredited college or graduate school. Employment is conditioned upon continuance as a student in a college or graduate school.
For Assignment Level II (Information Technology):
Matriculation at an accredited college or graduate school. Employment is conditioned upon continuance as a student in a college or graduate school with a specific course of study in information technology, computer science, management information systems, data processing, or closely related field, including or supplemented by 9 semester credits in an acceptable course of study.
For Assignment Level III (Information Technology Fellow):
Matriculation at an accredited college or graduate school. Employment is conditioned upon continuance as a student in a college or graduate school with a specific course of study in information technology, computer science, management information systems, data processing, or other area relevant to the information technology project(s) assigned, including or supplemented by 9 semester credits in an acceptable course of study. Appointments to this Assignment Level will be made by the Technology Steering Committee through the Department of Information Technology and Telecommunications.
SPECIAL NOTE
Maximum tenure for all Assignment Levels in the title of College Aide is 6 years. No student shall be employed more than half-time in any week in which classes in which the student is enrolled are in session. Students may be employed full-time during their vacation periods.
Preferred Skills
The successful candidate should possess the following: - 1 year of experience in cybersecurity risk management or 2 years of experience in an IT support role with a customer or end-user focus. - Solid understanding of risk management processes and frameworks (e.g., NIST 800-53, ISO 2700). - Ability to analyze complex problems, think critically, and develop effective solutions for assessing and mitigating risks. - Proficient in verbal and written communication. - Organized, self-motivated, and capable of managing projects independently. - Experience working on a cross-functional team. - Resourceful and able to adapt to various situations. - Cybersecurity certifications and education in cybersecurity are a plus.

Residency Requirement
New York City residency is generally required within 90 days of appointment. However, City Employees in certain titles who have worked for the City for 2 continuous years may also be eligible to reside in Nassau, Suffolk, Putnam, Westchester, Rockland, or Orange County.
