Job Summary
The Sales Engineer at Technology Lab plays a critical role in bridging the gap between technical expertise and client engagement. This role combines deep IT knowledge with strong sales and communications skills to deliver tailored solutions that address client needs. The Sales Engineer works with the sales team and clients to assess business challenges, design scalable IT solutions, that demonstrate the value of Technology Lab’s services. This includes conducting technical discovery assessments, preparing proposals, and providing pre- and post-sales support.
Responsibilities
- Work with local resources in various markets to conduct new client discoveries. Light personal travel may be required. Meet with clients both in-person and virtually, observe and document their environment and look for opportunities to streamline their IT infrastructure and processes.
- Assist sales and technical teams with identifying the correct product for client situations that require in-depth technical knowledge
- Research new technologies and attend various tech tradeshows (approx. 1-2/yr)
- Scoping projects for new and existing clients, including servers, identity management, large workstation equipment rollouts, network installs, VOIP systems, ISP Circuits, and other IT needs.
- Work with Customer Relations Managers and Project team to develop client roadmaps, providing guidance on priority when multiple projects, solutions, or products needed.
- Scoping projects and ensuring their proper execution through quality assurance (QA), while continuously reflecting on and learning from any oversights in the initial scoping process
- Work with Project Manager to provide oversight of small to large projects and client onboardings, including computer refreshes, networking equipment, storage solutions and other various technologies, Intune deployments, O365, Gsuite, Email migrations, Server deployments, and other technologies.
- Communicate in layman’s terms complex technology to customers in person and over the phone
- Coordinate with Sales Staff and Management, as well as other technical staff on project planning, and implementation
- Work with fellow team members and clients in a cordial and productive fashion to achieve timelines, plan for projects, and problem solve in a cooperative environment.
- Reviewing prospective client assessments performed by project team and looking for areas of opportunity to improve client environment

- Pre-Sales Experience: Ability to conduct technical discovery, present solutions, and handle objections effectively.
- Consultative Selling: Proficiency in understanding client needs and recommending appropriate services and solutions.
- Demonstrable ROI Skills: Capability to translate technical benefits into business value for non-technical stakeholders.
- Proposal Development: Experience creating detailed technical proposals and Statements of Work (SOW).
- Negotiation Skills: Confidence in discussing budgets, timelines, and deliverables.
Interpersonal and Communication Skills
- Presentation Skills: Ability to present complex technical concepts to both technical and non-technical audiences.
- Collaboration: Work closely with sales, support, and technical teams to align solutions with customer needs.
- Customer Service Orientation: Ability to build trust and maintain strong client and peer relationships.
Experience
- MSP Experience: 5 years’ experience working in or with MSPs, including knowledge of service delivery models and recurring revenue streams.
- 5 years’ experience in a sales engineering role, designing and proposing IT solutions including servers, networks, cloud infrastructure, complex migrations, and other advanced IT services.
- Demonstrated success working in a fast paced, highly competitive, deadline-oriented environment.
- IT Project Management: Understanding project lifecycles, timelines, and deliverables.
Technical Skills
- 5 years of experience in Windows AND Mac OSX repair and troubleshooting
- 5 years of Windows Server maintenance/installation and configuration
- 5 years of wired/wireless network planning, installation, and troubleshooting experience
- 5 years of experience with cloud solutions, including Microsoft Azure and Google Cloud Platform
- 5 years of experience with Microsoft Intune for mobile device management and endpoint security
- 5 years of experience with Microsoft Entra ID (formerly Azure AD) for identity and access management
Soft Skills

Education
