Reporting to the Principal Mine Engineer
Responsibilities
- Complete assigned work in a professional manner including vital measurements, calculations, analysis, interpretation, reporting and recommendations
- Provide technical support and coordination for short-term and long-term projects between departments, vendors, and contractors
- Improve our processes and procedures by assessing new technology and suggesting implementation where efficient
- Support both short- and long-term planning efforts as required
- Liaise with other engineers and geologists to get assistance in the development of plans and designs
- Prepare reports on productivity analysis, mine design, and mine planning
- Prepare plans for both surface drilling and blasting
- Communicate effectively with operating and technical groups to ensure optimum utilization of resources
- Develop an understanding of the company’s organization and work flow to develop a strong network within
- Other related duties as assigned
- Bachelor of Science in Mining Engineering, Geotechnical Engineering, Civil Engineering, or related field
- One (1) to five (5) years mining industry experience
- Project work exposure and mine planning experience in an open pit environment is an asset
- Proficient in MS Office Suite and Windows environment with advanced abilities in MS Excel
- Solid understanding of mine planning software (e.g. Minesight or similar) ideal
- Strong interpersonal communication (written and verbal) skills
- Proficient in prioritizing and completing tasks in a fast-paced environment
- Capable of working with all levels of the organization and in a team environment
