Reporting to the Surface Supervisor, the Surface Operator operates heavy equipment for the mine department following all safety regulations and procedures.
Rotation schedule will be 2 weeks on-site with 2 weeks off-site
Responsibilities:
- Establish understanding and complete training in the operation of Trash Truck, Bus, 966 Forklift, Bull Fork, Tractor/Trailer, Telescoping Forklift, 1T 38 Tool Handler Forklift, 966 Loader, Bull 45T Forklift, Tractor/Broom, Aircraft Deicing Truck, 966 Push Blade, Dump Truck with sander 20’ plow blade/belly blade snow blowers, both 966 attachments, Road Grader, Dozer, Tractor with belly dump/water tanker/high deck trailer/20T tilt trailer, Tractor Tanker and Plow Truck
- Responsible for completing basic paperwork such as timesheets and walk around inspection forms and condition of equipment reports
- Implement the guidelines and be open to learning and growing, while prioritizing safety measures during task completion
- Effectively communicate and cooperate with operators, colleagues and supervisors about assigned tasks and ensure carryover and updates of completed tasks throughout the shift
- Demonstrate knowledge and understanding of environmental risks and hazards as well as follows safety policies and procedures (MSHA and Red Dog EMS training) and ensures daily workplace inspections are done in order to accurately identify and correct workplace hazards
- Perform other related duties as assigned
Qualifications:
- High School Diploma or equivalent
- Valid drivers license
- Ability to obtain a Commercial Driver License within 60 days of employment
- Able to lift objects weighing 50 lbs on a regular basis
- Prior mining or similar experience is preferred
- Ability to perform tasks with limited direction
- Willing to work outdoors with a potential exposure to extreme climatic conditions
