Roofing Estimator/Project Manager

Position Identification:

Exempt

Reports to:  Operating Unit President

Position Summary:

The Project Estimator is responsible for the estimation of new construction and reroofing opportunities. This person will also be responsible for project management of the projects assigned.

Job Functions:

• Estimates job costs and submits proposals for review.
• Manages projects to meet targeted schedules and costs.
• Reviews and approves invoices, material slips, purchase orders, contracts, and proposals to verify that they do not compromise company policy or exceed intended scope of work.
• Resolves disputes with clients and past due accounts efficiently
• Maintains and protects all company equipment, vehicles, and Company policies.
• Tracks and controls labor and material costs of jobs.
• Invoices contract, time, and material projects.
• Works with prime and subcontractors on all phases of projects including schedules, change orders, submittals, quality control, etc.
• Fields customer requests, questions and complaints.

Knowledge, Skills & Experience (Essential):

• High School Diploma or equivalent, college preferred
• Minimum three (3) years of construction industry experience
• Other critical skills include planning & organizing; problem identification/resolution, multi-tasking, follow-through skills to bring tasks to closure in a timely manner, priority setting, and having a sense of urgency in accomplishing tasks.
• Strong attention to detail
• Microsoft Word and Excel
• Must have a valid driver's license
• Able to lift up to 50 pounds and comfortable visiting actual job sites about 50% of the time (without fear of heights)
• Ability to speak, read and comprehend instructions, short correspondence and policy documents, as well as converse comfortably with associates

Knowledge, Skills & Experience (Desirable):

• Bachelor’s degree in engineering, Construction Management, or related field
• Experience with using and building a database in Edge Estimating Software
• Knowledge of business and management principles
• Extensive knowledge of roofing materials, techniques and requirements

Working Conditions:

Physical surroundings:  Office environment with typical office machines and exposure to noise and temperature and project site visits.

Physical Effort: While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to sit, use hands to handle, or feel, climb ladder, bend, kneel, type, and talk or hear. The employee is also required to stand, walk, and reach with hands and arms; climb, balance, or kneel. The employee must frequently lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.  Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus.

Travel: local and some possible overnight
