Position Summary:
A chemical operator manages overall production in a chemical plant operations and machinery. Chemical operators also oversee the production process to ensure it runs smoothly and safely and produces a quality product.
Essential Duties:
Assure safety requirements are known and followed
o Use proper PPE for assigned tasks
o Maintain a clean work environment
o Notify supervisor immediately of any safety related issues
Interpret analytical results and make timely and accurate decisions
Ability to apply problem-solving process to diagnose, treat and eliminate problems permanently as well as provide immediate containment while permanent solution is derived
Ability to operate all of the reactors, packing columns, unloading and loading tankers, blending DNA products and column process
Familiar with all the analytical instruments and able to perform analysis on in-process samples
Ability to operate Honeywell 900 system
Ability to understand the distillation parameters and the interpretation of the output in the spec view
Organizing, planning and prioritizing work - Developing specific goals to accomplish daily tasks
Set up and dismantle filling equipment
Blend chemicals for DNA blends
Process chemicals for Anhydrosolv solvents
Use instrumentation: GC (Assay), UV spectrophotometer (Optical Absorbance) and KF (water) to analyze in-process samples
Clean filling equipment, holding tanks, totes, reactors and pumps according to procedure
Organize the production equipment in designated areas
Submit samples to the lab for analysis according to procedure
Be highly aware of quality issues and BOM
Fill drums, totes, bottles and RC's according to BOM
Unload and charge tankers (bulk material) following the given instructions
Clean and pack columns with adsorbent material and activate the column
Steam waste adsorbent material for disposal
Assist Chemical Operators with charging reactors and with other requirements
Able to problem solve container, label or other issues around filling operator
Handle waste according to procedures
Complete the cleaning record form
Complete the batch records, attach all in-process testing results and file the document
Understand filling/labelling process and able to oversee that side of production
Fill in as shift supervisor when supervisor not present
Familiar with filling stand set-up and efficient use
Other duties as assigned

Criteria:
First bottles submission efficiently
RFT numbers >95%
Project oriented
Able to train Chem-OP1 and Chem-OP2.
Actively looking for Process improvement.
Supervisory Responsibility:
This position does not have supervisory responsibility.
Required Education, Experience Skills and:
High school diploma or GED required; preferred college graduate in biology, chemistry or chemical engineering
Independent thinking, strong organizational and planning abilities and problem-solving skills are essential
Manufacturing experience

Chemical plant experience preferred
