POSITION SUMMARY:

The Food Safety and Quality Control (QC) Manager will be responsible for observing and documenting the process controls for all processes and products.  It is important to have controls within the process to consistently produce products that are within specification for the success of our business.  There will be a quality assurance technician on each shift completing process audits, inspecting ingredients, as well as ensuring that GMP’s are followed.  The position will require good communication skills to explain issues to supervisors on the shift as well as to your manager.

JOB REQUIREMENTS:

·         Must have excellent written and verbal communication skills
·         Must be willing to be flexible to accommodate schedule changes and production requirements.
·         Must work as a TEAM with all other supervisors and managers while being able to communicate and confront issues 
·         When presented with a problem, must be able to analyze information, evaluate the situation objectively, solve complex problems and make informed decision
·         Must be able to work and succeed in a fast paced environment and adapt to change
·         Must be willing to submit to drug testing after any incident involving injury and/or equipment
·         HACCP Certification is required, but can be completed upon hire.
·         Must be able to read and write English
·         Bilingual (Spanish) 

JOB DUTIES:

·         Implement and monitor a sound quality program that meets the company and regulatory standards for safety and quality; including but not limited to HACCP, GMP’s, and allergen control.
·         Manage coordination and cooperation with on-site third party audits, regulatory, or other approved inspectors.
·         Integrate quality monitoring programs into plant operations to ensure continual monitoring.
·         Manage and resolve customer complaints providing corrective action report.
·         Maintain appropriate certification applicable to products and facilities, i.e. gluten free, kosher, organic
·         Maintain documentation for product specifications, packaging and quality standards for all products.
·         Manage vendor and raw material quality programs to ensure supply of high quality and safe raw materials.
·         Implement and manage employee training program relating to GMP’s, HACCP, and other quality and safety programs.
·         Implement and manage environmental and product monitoring program.
·         Establish and document Sanitation Standard Operating Procedures (SSOPs) and Standar Operations Procedures (SOPs)  for plant and equipment.
·         Provide and coordinate training in the area of sanitation and chemical programs.
·         Continually assess Sanitation program to ensure adherence to preset standards for cleanliness.
·         Manage and monitor pest control program.
·         Identify areas of opportunity for continued improvements, particularly  in quality and safety standards.
·         Remain current with legislation, customer requirements, and industry trends to provide guidance to executives for continued improvements to systems.

SKILLS / REQUIREMENTS:

  • Certified in HACCP or Food Safety.
  • Prior experience in developing and managing training programs, understanding diverse learning styles and levels of education.
  • Self motivated and high performance oriented.
  • Must possess the ability to communicate both professionally and effectively at all levels of the organization.
  • Proficient with personal computer software including, but not limited to Microsoft word and excel.
  • Strong analysis and statistical background experience.
  • Excellent verbal communication skills with ability to present ideas and information clearly.
  • Highly organized with ability to maintain documentation of all company information. 
  • Team player who can work comfortably with people of diverse skills, experience and 
personalities. 

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:

·               Bachelors degree in food science, chemistry, or related field.
·               2-5 years of related experience 
 

 

Salary : $100,000 - $130,000
