Position Title: Pharmacy Technician
Location: Houston, Texas 77002
Duration: 12 Months with extension
Pay: $17/hr
Work Schedule: Monday through Friday (except Federal holidays), 8 one-hour sessions per day, totaling 40 hours per week. The schedule will normally be between 6:00 am and 2:30 pm.
Responsibilities:
Assist the staff pharmacist in ordering, stocking, storing, and dispensing prescription and non-prescription medications.
Maintain up-to-date stock of medications across various locations (main pharmacy, satellite camp, crash carts, emergency bags, and Automated Dispensing Systems), and perform outdated checks per policy.
Assist with maintaining stock of necessary forms and ensure proper filing of Medication Administration Records (MARs) in the Medical Record.
Assist with the preparation of unit doses or pre-packaged medications.
Ensure accurate tracking and control of narcotics and needle/syringe inventories.
Maintain and restock supplies for the "Night Stock” cabinet and conduct regular audits of the Night Stock or Automated Dispensing System.
Use technical computer systems to perform pharmacy tasks and maintain pharmacy records.
Perform clerical duties including use of the BOP electronic medical record system, documentation, scheduling, scanning, filing, and answering phones.
Qualifications:
Must have completed a formal Pharmacy Technician Training Program, with at least 6 months of course credit and successful completion of internship.
Minimum of 1 year of Pharmacy Technician experience. Experience in a correctional environment is preferred but not required.
Must have a current CPR certification.
