Workdays: Monday to Friday, with occasional Saturdays as needed
Project Overview:
The GCP Cloud Engineer will implement designs and standards provided by the Cloud Architect and the Cloud Operations team to deploy application hosting environments. This role focuses on the GCP cloud platform using a DevOps methodology, ensuring repeatable and efficient configurations, automation, and tools for cloud services. The engineer will provision application hosting environments, establish monitoring and reporting systems, and serve as the primary infrastructure contact for cloud projects.
Additionally, the Cloud Engineer will develop and maintain cloud standards, support strategic goals, and ensure tactical alignment with application needs. The role involves driving continuous improvement, managing cloud lifecycles, and exploring new cloud-based solutions. Collaboration with vendors and participation in an after-hours on-call rotation for troubleshooting is required.
Key Responsibilities:
- Configure and deploy VPC environments and cloud instances per Cloud Architect designs to meet workload requirements.
- Collaborate with NetSecOps to implement automated security controls aligned with CISO policies and standards.
- Analyze and recommend new GCP capabilities for adoption.
- Manage users, organizations, groups, and access permissions within the cloud platform based on IAM requirements.
- Establish monitoring and reporting solutions for effective cloud platform management.
- Define and document standards and procedures (SOPs) for utilizing GCP-based IaaS, PaaS, and SaaS solutions.
- Advocate for and communicate cloud platform capabilities to drive adoption.
- Serve as a Tier-2 escalation point for incident resolution and production break-fix efforts.
- Work with NetSecOps to ensure consistent, repeatable, and automated enforcement of network security policies.
Minimum Qualifications:
- 5 years of hands-on infrastructure development experience with GCP services (compute, network, storage, security, deployment, and management).
- 5 years of experience with Infrastructure as Code (IaC) tools, such as Terraform.
- Expertise in cloud infrastructure solutions, including Windows/Linux IaaS, disaster recovery, security, storage, networking, and containerization.
- Proven experience with enterprise-scale infrastructure deployments.
- Proficiency in automated Continuous Integration/Delivery (CI/CD) pipelines.
- Strong scripting skills in Python, Bash, and PowerShell.
- Google Foundational Certification.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Google Professional Cloud Architect Certification.
- Advanced Terraform experience.
- Familiarity with Azure DevOps.
