Salary : $17.00 DOE shift differential

We are seeking a detail-oriented and reliable Material Handler to join our team in our steel fabrication warehouse. The ideal candidate will have experience handling materials, inventory management, and a strong understanding of using a tape measure for precise measurements in a manufacturing environment. This role requires a commitment to safety, organization, and efficiency while ensuring materials are handled and stored according to the company's standards.

Key Responsibilities

Material Handling :

Safely and efficiently load, unload, and move materials, including steel components, beams, and other fabrication supplies, within the warehouse.

Organize materials in a systematic manner to ensure easy access and reduce the risk of damage or mix-ups.

Transport materials to designated areas based on work orders and production schedules.

Measurement and Quality Control :

Use a tape measure to accurately measure steel components and ensure they meet the required specifications for fabrication.

Assist with marking and preparing materials for cutting or further processing, following engineering or blueprint specifications.

Report any material defects or discrepancies to the production or quality control team.

Inventory Management :

Track material usage and restock materials as necessary to ensure continuous production flow.

Maintain accurate records of inventory levels, including conducting periodic cycle counts or full inventory audits.

Ensure materials are properly labeled and stored to maintain easy identification and retrieval.

Equipment Operation :

Operate forklifts, pallet jacks, and other material-handling equipment to transport materials safely and efficiently.

Maintain and ensure equipment is in good working condition, reporting any issues to the supervisor.

Safety and Compliance :

Adhere to all safety regulations and procedures, including proper lifting techniques and the use of personal protective equipment (PPE).

Follow warehouse safety protocols, including hazard identification and reporting, to ensure a safe working environment.

Comply with environmental and regulatory standards regarding material handling and storage.

Skills & Qualifications

Experience :

Previous experience as a Material Handler or in a similar role, preferably in a steel fabrication or manufacturing environment.

Knowledge of basic fabrication processes and materials handling.

Technical Skills :

Ability to read and interpret measurements using a tape measure (standard and metric measurements).

Basic knowledge of blueprints or engineering drawings is a plus.

Physical Requirements :

Ability to lift heavy materials (up to 50 lbs or more) and stand or walk for extended periods.

Comfortable working in a warehouse environment with varying temperatures and noise levels.

Safety Awareness :

Strong understanding of safety protocols and practices in a warehouse or manufacturing setting.

Communication :

Good verbal and written communication skills for reporting materials, issues, and inventory levels.

Attention to Detail :

High level of accuracy when measuring and handling materials to ensure the quality and precision of fabrication work.

Preferred Qualifications

Forklift certification or experience operating material-handling equipment.

Experience working in a steel fabrication environment or similar industry.

Basic computer skills for inventory tracking and record keeping.

Working Conditions

Full-time position.

Drug-Free Workplace

Typically Monday through Thursday (10 hour shifts) with occasional overtime, depending on production needs.

May require working in varying temperatures (hot or cold) depending on warehouse conditions.
