KXTV-ABC10
in Sacramento is looking for a dynamic and creative morning anchor to join our team. We want a strong on-camera communicator who is passionate about breaking news, impactful storytelling, and serving our audience and diverse communities.

The ideal candidate is a journalist at heart - someone who digs deeper, asks tough but fair questions, and understands the "why" behind every story. You will work closely with producers to create smart, engaging, and innovative newscasts that go beyond the headlines. We are looking for someone who is not only a newsroom leader but also a trusted voice in the community - building relationships, finding the truth, and telling the stories that matter. This is an exciting opportunity to help shape the future of local news in Northern California.

Responsibilities:

  • Exercise strong editorial judgment to help shape the content of each newscast.
  • Collaborate with producers and the team to build fast-paced, innovative, and engaging newscasts.
  • Monitor social media trends to identify and incorporate timely, relevant stories into broadcasts.
  • Develop and pitch original story ideas through social listening, community engagement, and independent research.
  • Write, shoot, and edit news stories for television, streaming, mobile and social media platforms.
  • Write for web audiences, incorporating images and video.
  • Use creative storytelling tools such as graphics, viewer-submitted content, and webcam interviews to enhance stories.
  • Perform other tasks as required by supervisor or executive producer.

Requirements:

  • At least 3–5 years of experience as a news anchor and/or reporter.
  • Bachelor's degree in journalism, Communications, or a related field (preferred).
  • Strong understanding of professional journalism standards and ethics.
  • Excellent writing and storytelling skills, with a confident and engaging on-air presence.
  • Ability to write in a clear, compelling, and authentic voice.
  • Proficient with modern editing and photography tools to craft visually impactful stories.
  • Capable of developing original content through social listening and independent research.
  • Deliver news across all platforms—including streaming—in a dynamic, accurate, and engaging manner.
  • Confident in conducting interviews and verifying facts for accuracy and credibility.

Benefits:

TEGNA offers comprehensive benefits designed to safeguard the physical, mental and financial health of our employees and their families. TEGNA offers two medical plan options for full and part-time employees through Blue Cross Blue Shield of Texas, as well as access to dental and eye care coverage; fertility, surrogacy and adoption assistance; disability and life insurance.

Our 401(k) program offers full, part-time and temporary employees the opportunity to contribute 1% - 80% of their pay on a pre-tax basis to TEGNA's 401(k). Contributions made up to the first 4% of pay are eligible for a 100% match from the company and are 100% vested from day one.

Regardless of participation in TEGNA medical plans, ALL employees and their eligible family members receive nine free virtual doctor's appointments with a physician through Teladoc, and 12 free annual therapy sessions with a licensed clinician through Spring Health.

TEGNA offers a generous Paid Time Off (PTO) benefit as well as nine paid holidays per year.

  • Some jobs are covered by a collective bargaining agreement and thus some or all of the benefits described herein may not apply. For example, some newsroom bargaining unit employees receive health and retirement benefits under plans administered by the union.
