The ideal candidate also brings a multitude of talents to the table, including the ability to edit video, create social graphics and track down information through interviews, public records searches and social media postings.This position requires producing original content for multiple WUSA9 platforms including the website, mobile app and streaming app as well as various social media platforms. The ideal candidate will also be responsible for responding quickly to breaking news and managing content produced by others, including copy editing for our various desktop / mobile / social platforms.Responsibilities : Write and post stories to all WUSA9 digital / mobile / social platformsReport news as it happens online (strong breaking news skills) and generate digital traffic through social media and SEO skills.Monitor news releases, Facebook, Twitter, Instagram and other online news sourcesUse social media mining tools to discover unique contentAggregate content for streaming platformsWork with all newsroom departments on content coverage, broadcast-digital coordination and social listeningCoordinate live streams of news events with a heavy emphasis on breaking newsSend push alerts to breaking news stories / high-interest contentIdentify compelling, unique stories and user-generated content of interest to our audiencePitch story ideas in daily editorial meetingsSource and create enterprise stories for all WUSA9 platformsRequirements : A clear understanding of the tenets of professional journalism, as well as high standards of journalistic integrity and ethicsDegree in journalism, communications or a related field, or equivalent professional experiencePrior newsroom experience, with at least 1-3 years digital experienceExcellent writing (stories, social, push notifications), editing and proofreading skillsStrong knowledge of AP StyleKnowledge of SEO best practices and how to implementProficiency in running social media accounts, video optimization or livestreaming a plusExcellent communication and time management skillsExcellent critical thinking and problem-solving skillsAbility to prioritize and manage requests from various sources with an ability to work well with varied personalities within deadlinesSelf-starter who can also work well as a member of a teamMust be able to work a flexible schedule, including weekends and / or holidays, as warranted by vacations / breaking news coveragePay Range : $31.25 - $34.61 USDTEGNA offers comprehensive benefits designed to safeguard the physical, mental and financial health of our employees and their families.
