Job Summary:
The Grinding Operator role involves operating computer numerical control (CNC) machines like CNC infeed/thrufeed centerless grinding machines, CNC surface grinding machines, and CNC wire grinding machines. The position requires maintaining awareness of close tolerance parts, utilizing various measuring equipment, and strictly following standard operating procedures. In addition to operating secondary equipment, the operator must fulfill other departmental duties.
Responsibilities:
- Operate machines efficiently to meet quality and throughput specifications.
- Work with materials other than metal, including composites, plastic, and rubber.
- Engage in continuous improvement activities and maintain a clean and safe work environment.
- Perform ERP system transactions and conduct daily maintenance on equipment and tools.
- Follow prescribed procedures to achieve parts per print and quality specifications.
- Regularly monitor machine operations for malfunctions and ensure proper lubrication and cooling.
- Inspect workpieces during the grinding process using measuring instruments.
- Clearly communicate with team members and supervisors to facilitate information transfer.
- Conduct 1st piece and in-process inspections and accurately record measurements per inspection plans.
- Perform secondary operations as needed, such as cleaning parts and work areas.
Qualifications:
- Previous experience operating grinding equipment is advantageous.
- Experience in medical device manufacturing, aerospace, machinery, and metals is preferred.
- Strong communication skills, both oral and written.
- Ability to follow instructions, meet deadlines, and proficiently use measurement and inspection tools.
- Demonstrated good work habits, adherence to attendance requirements, strong workmanship, and a positive attitude.
- Flexibility to perform a variety of machining operations and other manufacturing functions.
Education Requirements:
- High School Diploma or equivalent.
- Graduation from a vocational school in manufacturing/machining or an engineering discipline is a plus.
- Ideally 1 to 3 years of experience in a small device manufacturing environment as a CNC Grinding Operator.
Shift Availability:
- Positions available for 1st, 2nd, and 3rd shifts.
