What are the responsibilities and job description for the Key Account Manager position at Tegra Medical?
Tegra Medical, Franklin (Massachusetts), is looking to fill the position of Key Account Manager.
The Key Account Manager will be responsible for generating and sustainably developing the Medical Device Business of Tegra Medical. This shall be achieved through acquiring substantial new projects and further expanding existing applications. Must have experience in and a strong technical understanding of the processing of metal components such as CNC Swiss machining, milling, grinding, laser processing, wire and tube forming, and a working knowledge of injection molding, assembly, packaging and sterilization. Experience has to include selling to OEM companies in the spine, orthopedic, minimally invasive and arthroscopic surgical markets. Relying upon your industry contacts and technical knowledge you will be responsible for the profitable growth, development and maintenance of new and existing customers within your region and will be the key link between our customers and Tegra Medical’s manufacturing locations. Reporting to the VP of Sales and Operations, you will play a critical role in helping Tegra Medical execute on its ambitious growth objectives.
Primary Responsibilities:
- Strategic planning of business development
- Market analysis and identifying attractive applications which fit Tegra Medical's capabilities
- Maintain up-to-date understanding of industry trends, government regulations and technical developments that affect our target markets.
- Establish and maintaining strong customer relationships
- Develop account penetration strategies for all key customers
- Identify and capturing customer needs and help develop tailored solutions
- Quotation of new projects/products including engineering and qualification efforts
- Securing and acquisition of engineering work based on customer orders
- Manage large new part projects, capture all relevant customer requirements, and secure and coordinate a fluent communication between the involved parties
- Monitor, improve and/or maintain profitability of existing business by proactive price management, working collaboratively with internal contacts
- Monitor existing contracts and ensure appropriate contract management and renewal
Level of Skill, Education and Experience:
A strong technical understanding of the use and manufacturing of medical devices used in minimally invasive arthroscopic, spine implant and orthopedic instrument markets is required. A minimum of 10 years technical sales experience in medical device contract manufacturing is a prerequisite. It is advantageous to be well networked within the medical device industry and have a demonstrable record of developing new business. Engineering background with demonstrated sales aptitude, relevant experience and a passion for customer service will be considered.
Excellent oral and written communication skills including formal presentation skills are a must as well as an ability for problem solving and negotiation with special emphasis on closing new business. Must have experience managing a large geographical territory and a willingness to travel as needed. Strong relationship building skills and the ability to work different levels of the customers’ organization.
