SQL Server Data Migration Specialist

*Please note: This is not a remote position, the expectation is that this person will work on site in our Livonia, MI office at least twice a week.
Position Description:
We are seeking a skilled Data Migration Specialist to join our team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for planning, executing, and managing data migration projects from various sources to SQL Server. This role involves developing and maintaining ETL processes, optimizing SQL queries, and collaborating with cross-functional teams to ensure seamless data integration. The candidate will also utilize C# and other .NET technologies to create custom data migration tools and scripts, perform data validation, and ensure data integrity post-migration.
Major Job Functions:
- Plan, execute, and manage data migration projects from various sources to SQL Server.
- Develop and maintain ETL processes to ensure accurate and efficient data transfer.
- Optimize SQL queries and database performance to enhance data migration efficiency.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to understand data requirements and ensure seamless integration.
- Utilize C# and other .NET technologies to develop custom data migration tools and scripts.
- Perform data validation and quality assurance to ensure data integrity post-migration.
- Troubleshoot and resolve data migration issues in a timely manner.
- Document data migration processes, procedures, and best practices.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field.
- Proven experience in SQL Server data migration and database management.
- Strong proficiency in SQL, including query optimization and performance tuning.
- Experience with C# and other .NET technologies.
- Familiarity with ETL tools and processes.
- Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
- Strong communication and collaboration skills.
- Ability to work independently and manage multiple projects simultaneously.
Technical Skills:
- Proficiency in SQL Server Integration Services (SSIS) for ETL processes.
- Familiarity with data modeling and database design.
- Experience with cloud-based data migration (e.g., Azure, AWS).
- Experience with version control systems like Git.
- Familiarity with scripting languages such as PowerShell.
- Understanding of data security and compliance requirements.
Additional Preferred Qualifications:
- Certification in SQL Server or related technologies.
- Experience with other database systems (e.g., Oracle, MySQL).
- Knowledge of data governance and data quality management.
- Knowledge of data warehousing concepts and practices.
