The Tehachapi Cement Plant is seeking an Entry-Level Engineer for a training position. As an Engineer-in-Training (EIT), you will collaborate with experienced engineers and managers across various departments such as Environmental, Automation, Operations, Maintenance, Quality Control, and Quarry. This position is designed to offer hands-on training, with an expected program duration of 24–36 months. You will spend 18–24 months in the control room and work in multiple departments to gain comprehensive experience. Upon completion of the program, you will choose an area of specialization based on your interests and business needs.

Responsibilities :

Safety Compliance : Ensure compliance with company safety policies and MSHA / OSHA regulations, conducting safety meetings and inspections to maintain a safe working environment.

Department Rotation : Rotate through all plant departments to gain a thorough understanding of plant operations, with the opportunity to specialize after program completion.

Union Administration : Administer the Collective Bargaining Agreement and participate in disciplinary and grievance processes.

Issue Tracking and Resolution : Document and prioritize issues using appropriate tracking systems, collaborating with production and maintenance teams to resolve them.

Root Cause Analysis : Perform root cause analysis on production process defects, inconsistencies, and equipment deviations.

Special Projects : Complete special projects as assigned to support plant operations.

Communication : Communicate test results, quality metrics, and process improvements to relevant stakeholders clearly and concisely.

Warehouse Management : Manage warehouse employee schedules, time cards, PTO requests, and daily work tasks to ensure efficient operations.

Collaboration with Teams : Collaborate with Process Control Supervisors and engineers to understand cement production requirements and specifications.

Continuous Improvement : Participate in continuous improvement initiatives for cement plant processes, equipment calibration, and quality control.

Best Practices Implementation : Work with cross-functional teams to implement best practices and quality standards across the cement manufacturing process.

Team Knowledge Sharing : Participate in meetings, training, and knowledge-sharing activities to foster a culture of quality and collaboration.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities :

Education : Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical, Civil, Chemical, Chemistry, Electrical, Mining, Environmental, or Physical Sciences. Preference will be given to candidates with a degree in Chemical or Mechanical Engineering.

Experience : Prior manufacturing exposure is a plus.

Travel : Willingness to travel to other locations during the training program.

Communication Skills : Strong verbal and written communication skills.

Work Environment : Ability and desire to work in a fast-paced environment with 24-hour operations.

Compensation and Benefits :

Salary : $75,000 - $80,000 annually.
