Job Description:
Tehachapi Cement is seeking an experienced Environmental Manager to oversee environmental compliance, sustainability initiatives, and environmental performance at our Tehachapi plant operations.
Key Responsibilities:
- Environmental Management System: Manage the environmental management system across plant operations, ensuring effective implementation of environmental programs and regulatory compliance.
- Regulatory Compliance: Evaluate and ensure continuous environmental compliance with federal, state, and local regulations. Implement corrective actions as necessary and conduct regular environmental inspections.
- Environmental Sampling and Monitoring: Oversee environmental sampling, monitoring, and reporting activities, ensuring timely completion of permit renewals and adherence to environmental regulations.
- Stakeholder Communication: Act as primary company liaison with regulatory agencies, advocating for environmental interests and addressing concerns or violations.
- Safety Compliance: Ensure plant safety policies and MSHA/OSHA regulations are adhered to through safety inspections and promoting a safe working environment.
- Project and Budget Management: Plan and implement projects to meet environmental requirements, manage the plant's environmental budget, and allocate resources effectively.
- Training and Development: Develop and deliver training to plant personnel on relevant environmental issues, regulations, and company policies.
- Environmental Permit Administration: Administer the plant's environmental permits, managing associated fees and ensuring necessary renewals are completed on time.
- Continuous Improvement: Support EHS audits and monitor Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) through data analysis to drive continuous improvement and workplace safety.
- Environmental Advocacy: Assist in planning and executing facility upgrades and new projects to meet environmental standards, ensuring timely permitting and regulatory compliance.
Requirements:
- Education: Bachelor's degree in Environmental Science, Environmental Engineering, or a related technical field. Master's degree preferred.
- Experience: At least 5 years of experience in an environmental role with focus on air and water quality regulations, preferably in industries like mining, cement, aggregates, power plants, or petrochemical.
- Industry Knowledge: Strong knowledge of environmental laws and regulations affecting cement manufacturing, including compliance with MSHA/OSHA standards.
- Technical Skills: Experience with environmental management systems, SAP, emissions monitoring software, and proficiency in Microsoft Office.
- Leadership and Communication: Strong communication, leadership, and problem-solving skills, with ability to collaborate with plant teams, management, and external stakeholders.
- Regulatory Expertise: High level of knowledge in federal, state, and local environmental regulations, with proven track record of ensuring compliance within operational environments.
