What are the responsibilities and job description for the Custodian - District Office - Rover position at Tehachapi Unified School District?
Tehachapi Unified School District has one vacancy for a Roving Custodian out of the District Office for 8 hours per day / 5 days per week / 261 work days.
Tentative Times: 2:00 pm - 10:30 pm
Benefits and night differential available.
The Roving Custodian will be assigned to the District Office, however may be sent to other sites as needed to provide additional support.
Work times may vary and are subject to change based upon the needs of the District.
REPORTS TO:
Director of Maintenance, Operations & Facilities/Designee
DESCRIPTION (DEFINITION & DISTINGUISHING CHARACTERISTICS):
Keep assigned buildings and adjacent areas clean, sanitary, safe, and orderly and perform outdoor cleaning and general grounds duties when assigned.
PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES (EXAMPLE OF DUTIES):
- Perform all cleaning operations such as sweep, mop, wash, vacuum, dust, polish.
- Empty waste receptacles.
- Make minor, non-technical repairs such as replacing light bulbs.
- Maintain building security by locking doors and windows as needed.
- Clean drinking fountains, lavatories, chalk boards, lunch tables.
- Assist in snow removal from walkways and parking lots as needed.
- Assist in moving, arranging and setting up furniture and equipment for special events.
- Participate in team-cleaning of school plant during student vacations.
- Outdoor duties such as hand-watering, turning sprinklers on and off, leaf raking, hosing down walkways, picking up trash and litter.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS (MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS):
Knowledge of:
- Modern cleaning methods and the use and care of cleaning materials and equipment.
- Following work schedule and other written directives.
- Working effectively in the absence of supervision.
Ability to:
- Incorporated within one or more of the previously mentioned performance responsibilities, which are essential functions of this job description, are the following essential physical requirements:
- Ability to stand for extended periods of time.
- Ability to see for the purpose of assessing cleanliness and reading directional materials.
- Ability to hear and understand speech at normal levels.
- Ability to bend, twist, push, reach, stoop, kneel, crawl, climb, and walk.
- Ability to lift 75 pounds and do repetitive lifting of 50 pounds.
- Ability to push a dolly or YRE cart with 200-300 pounds.
- Ability to work at heights, ascend and descend ladder.
Training and Experience:
- One year experience in janitorial services. Passage of pre-employment physical assessment.
TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT (Work Year): Twelve Month
Job Type: Part-time
Pay: $18.63 - $24.28 per hour
