Definition :
Provides a variety of specialized clerical support activities to the County Clerk and Recorder Office, which may include word processing, data entry and organization, telephone and counter reception, processing records and legal documents, record keeping, report preparation, and filing and provides information and assistance to the general public.

Deputy County Clerk I :
18.03 - $21.92 Hourly / $1,442.40 - $1,753.60 Biweekly
Deputy County Clerk II :
19.90 - $24.19 Hourly / $1,592.00 - $1,935.20 Biweekly
Ideal Candidate : The ideal candidate for this position will be a self-starter who is punctual and has excellent attention to detail. They should possess clerical experience, strong customer service skills and be comfortable working on a computer. The chosen candidate for this current vacancy will be utilized flexibly between Clerk of the Board and Elections.

Examples of Duties
- Performs a wide variety of clerical work including complex voter registration and election duties, processing legal documents and vital records, maintaining accurate and detailed records, researching discrepancies, handling confidential material, providing legal interpretation (as allowed), and recording information.
Verifies and reviews forms and reports for completeness, accuracy, and conformance with established regulations and procedures.
Prepares, copies, and distributes a variety of documents, including Board minutes and agendas, bid packages, internal reports, contracts, and specifications; ensures proper filing of copies in departmental or central files.

Education, Experience & Licenses
Any combination of training and experience which would provide the required knowledge, skills and abilities is qualifying. A typical way to obtain the required qualifications would be :
Deputy County Clerk I / II : Equivalent to the completion of the twelfth (12th) grade.
Deputy County Clerk I : One (1) year of clerical office support with public contact. Experience in a government agency desired.
Deputy County Clerk II : Two (2) years of office support experience including the equivalent of one (1) year as a Deputy County Clerk I with the County of Tehama.
Other combinations of education and experience may be considered.

The department is currently recruiting for one (1) vacancy.
In addition, Tehama County is establishing an eligibility list to fill future vacancies for a Deputy County Clerk I / II, as well as subsequent vacancies which occur during the life of the eligibility list.
New employees should anticipate being hired at the beginning step of the salary range. Candidates who exceed entry level qualifications may be considered, with approval from the Board of Supervisors, for placement at other than A step.
