About the Position :
Under general supervision, promotes community awareness of health and wellness issues; plans, organizes, and conducts health education programs; prepares and presents health education materials, provides outreach services for at risk populations, conducts education forums on priority health issues; provides case management services to clients and assists clients in accessing community services.
SALARY (A-E Steps) :
Health Educator I : $26.11 - $31.74 Hourly / $2,088.80 - $2,539.20
Health Educator II : $28.82 - $35.03 Hourly / $2,305.60 - $2,802.40
Bilingual Incentive pay is 7.5% above the Health Educator I or Health Educator II salary.
Examples of Duties
- Plans, organizes, conducts, and evaluates community outreach programs, workshops, and conferences to promote health education, risk reduction, and healthy behaviors.
- Determines target populations and identifies specific educational needs by conducting statistical, demographic and socio-cultural surveys through the accessing and interpretation of both primary and secondary data.
- Utilizes standards of practice for planning programs including the development of logic models.
- Bilingual Candidates : Translates, interprets and otherwise communicates with members of the Spanish speaking community.

The department is recruiting for multiple vacancies.
In addition, Tehama County is establishing an eligibility list to fill current vacancies for a Health Educator I or Health Educator I Bilingual, as well as subsequent vacancies which occur during the life of the eligibility list.
Testing Dates :
1 / 30 / 2025 - 2 / 3 / 2025. Testing will be provided via email.
Tentative Interview Date :
Monday, February 1, 2025 from 1 : 30pm - 3 : 30pm.
New employees should anticipate being hired at the beginning step of the salary range. Candidates who exceed entry level qualifications may be considered, with approval from the Board of Supervisors, for placement at other than A step.
