What are the responsibilities and job description for the Purchasing Manager position at TEI Construction Services, Inc.?
The Construction Procurement Manager is responsible for leading and developing the greater TEiC Procurement team, both within the Duncan office, and the Procurement personnel in the field. Additionally, the Procurement Manager will be responsible for maintaining purchases from affiliate suppliers. This role will support, cost calculations, and service requirements, while also servicing internal and external customers through maintaining communication and relationships among peers and direct reports.
Safety
- Ensure compliance with procurement procedures and qualification criteria to mitigate risks related to unsafe materials or suppliers.
- Support field operations by securing materials and services that adhere to safety standards and regulations.
Technical Acumen
- Provide review and guidance on supplier/subcontractor selection, ensuring technical qualifications align with company standards.
- Validate pricing, volume, and specifications with accounting to maintain accuracy in procurement transactions.
- Monitor supplier changes (mergers, product discontinuation, etc.) and communicate potential technical impacts.
Continuous Improvement
- Support department initiatives and best practices to enhance procurement processes for long-term efficiencies.
- Implement creative problem-solving approaches to streamline procurement workflows.
- Regularly review and adjust inventory levels based on evolving customer and business needs.
Quality Control
- Verify that all purchase orders comply with procedures and qualification requirements to maintain material and service quality.
- Negotiate with suppliers to resolve discrepancies in price, volume, and performance to uphold quality standards.
- Engage in claim negotiations with suppliers and subcontractors to address quality concerns.
Sustainability
- Assess suppliers based on long-term viability and alignment with company sustainability goals.
- Proactively address supplier and product changes that may impact sustainability initiatives.
- Support procurement decisions that balance cost-effectiveness with environmentally responsible sourcing.
Project Execution
- Collaborate with field operations teams to ensure procurement activities align with project needs and timelines.
- Maintain communication with suppliers and internal teams to ensure timely delivery of materials for project success.
- Provide support to field procurement and accounting teams to maintain compliance and efficiency in project execution.
Financial Management
- Negotiate commercial terms with suppliers to optimize costs while ensuring service and material quality.
- Dispute pricing discrepancies and variances with suppliers to maintain financial accuracy and control.
- Monitor inventory levels to optimize purchasing decisions and prevent financial overages or shortages.
- Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent work experience. Master’s degree in business management preferred.
- 5 years of related work experience; 3 years of managerial experience
- Construction Experience Required
