We are looking for a Tooling Supervisor for our facility in Salisbury, NC
Essential Job Functions:
- Supervise and coordinate daily activities of the tooling team, including tool setters and technicians.
- Provide coaching, training, and development to team members, ensuring proper skill levels and succession planning.
- Ensure team compliance with company policies, safety standards, and operational procedures.
- Oversee tool setting activities, ensuring proper installation, adjustment, and removal of molds, dies, and other tooling equipment.
- Develop and maintain a preventative maintenance schedule for all plant tooling, working closely with the maintenance department.
- Troubleshoot tooling-related production issues, implementing corrective actions to minimize downtime.
- Identify opportunities for tooling process optimization to improve production efficiency, quality, and cost-effectiveness.
- Collaborate with engineering and production teams to support new tool designs, trials, modifications, and program launches.
- Implement continuous improvement initiatives using lean manufacturing principles.
- Ensure all tooling operations comply with safety regulations and company policies.
- Conduct regular safety inspections and address any identified hazards immediately.
- Promote a safety-first culture among the tooling team.
- Maintain accurate records of tooling changes, maintenance activities, and production interruptions.
- Prepare reports on tooling performance, downtime, and improvement initiatives for plant leadership.
Qualifications:
- Minimum 10-15 years of experience in tooling, tool setting, or mold maintenance within a manufacturing environment, with at least 5 years in a leadership or supervisory role.
- Strong understanding of tooling design, mold and die installation, and preventative maintenance programs.
- Familiarity with lean manufacturing principles and continuous improvement methodologies.
- Proficiency in reading blueprints, technical drawings, and specifications.
- Proven ability to lead and develop high-performing teams in a fast-paced environment.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to interact across all levels of the organization.
- Excellent analytical skills to troubleshoot and resolve tooling-related issues efficiently.
Education:
- Education in machine tool technology or Die and Mold making.
- An associate degree in engineering, manufacturing, or a related field is preferred but not required.
