Position Title: ICU Registered Nurse (Acute Care, Direct-Hire RN Position)
Position Type: Direct Hire
Schedule: Nights, 3x12s, 7p-7a, Every Other Weekend (EOW) required
Pay Rate: $35-38/hr, commensurate with skills and experience
Shift Differential:
- $4.00/hour for 7p-7a shifts
- $4.00/hour for weekend shifts (11:00 pm Friday through 11:30 pm Sunday)
- Holiday Differential: 50% of base rate for 6 major holidays (stackable with other differentials)
Education/Training:
- Associate’s or Bachelor’s Degree in Nursing from an accredited college or university required
- Nursing Diploma program completed during or before the 1980s may be accepted in lieu of a degree
- Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) preferred
Licensure and Certification Requirements:
- Registered Nurse License issued by the state board of nursing required
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required
- Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) certification preferred upon hire, must be obtained within six months of hire
- Trauma Nursing Core Course (TNCC) certification preferred upon hire, must be obtained within six months of hire
- NIH Stroke Scale Certification required, must be obtained within six months of hire
Experience Required:
- Minimum of two years of experience as an ICU RN required
Position Summary:
The ICU Registered Nurse is responsible for delivering professional nursing care to critically ill patients. This includes assessment, direct physical care, evaluation, teaching, and counseling. The role requires collaboration with the interdisciplinary care team and the ability to recognize and respond to changes in patient conditions.
Essential Job Functions:
- Patient Assessment & Evaluation: Systematically assess and evaluate patient conditions, including diagnostic results, responses to treatments, behavioral, developmental, and cultural needs.
- Monitoring and Reporting: Recognize and report changes in patient conditions to appropriate healthcare professionals.
- Care Coordination: Ensure delegated care aligns with the patient's needs and care plan developed by the treatment team.
- Critical Thinking: Utilize critical thinking to evaluate the effectiveness of care and make necessary adjustments.
- Patient Education: Provide education to patients and families, assisting in integrating the impact of illness and recovery into daily life.
- Collaboration: Work collaboratively with interdisciplinary care providers to meet patient care needs.
- Documentation: Maintain accurate documentation of assessments, treatments, and patient responses per hospital policies and procedures.
- Ethical Practice: Contribute to the ethical environment of the healthcare setting by advocating for patient rights, family involvement, and informed decision-making.
- Professional Growth: Participate in ongoing educational activities, seek opportunities for clinical development, and contribute to quality assurance and performance improvement (QA/PI) activities.
- Crisis Management: Maintain calm and function effectively during high-stress or crisis situations.
- Confidentiality: Maintain patient and hospital confidentiality at all times and comply with HIPAA regulations.
Safety and Compliance:
- Follow OSHA standards and maintain awareness of bloodborne pathogen protection protocols.
- Use proper body mechanics and adhere to safety practices to prevent injury.
- Report any safety or operational concerns to the Manager or Chief Nursing Officer.
