Position Overview:
We are seeking a talented and detail-oriented Mechanical Design Engineer to join our dynamic engineering team based in Richmond, VA. This is an immediate, onsite role focused on supporting the design and engineering of Low Voltage (LV) Switchgear Systems.
The successful candidate will play a key role in the mechanical design of electrical enclosures, utilizing industry-leading tools such as Autodesk Inventor and Vault. A strong understanding of UL standards, design release protocols, and switchgear system architecture is essential.
Key Responsibilities:
- Design and develop mechanical layouts for LV switchgear and electrical enclosure systems.
- Create detailed models, drawings, and assemblies using Autodesk Inventor.
- Manage and maintain design data in Autodesk Vault.
- Collaborate closely with electrical and manufacturing teams to ensure seamless integration and compliance.
- Conduct design reviews and support the engineering change/release process.
- Ensure designs adhere to industry standards, especially UL891 and UL1558.
- Troubleshoot and refine designs based on feedback, testing, and compliance requirements.
Required Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related discipline.
- Minimum of 5 years of relevant mechanical design experience, ideally within the electrical equipment or switchgear industry.
- Advanced proficiency in Autodesk Inventor and Autodesk Vault.
- Demonstrated experience in:
- Low voltage switchgear design
- Panel layout planning
- Busbar configuration
- In-depth knowledge of UL standards (UL891, UL1558) and regulatory compliance.
- Familiarity with engineering design review and product release cycles.
- Excellent communication and teamwork skills.
- Strong organizational abilities and keen attention to detail.
