Key Responsibilities
The Fiber Optic Cable Technician will be responsible for:
- Mounting and installing racks, patch panels, and fiber optic hardware
- Grounding racks, equipment, and cable as required
- Performing continuity tests and troubleshoots opens, crosses, shorts, and transpose pairs on horizontal and riser cable
- Installing LC, SC, ST, FC, FDDI, SMA, and MPO/MTP connectors
- Terminating simplex and duplex jumper cord
- Terminating and breaking out outside plant fiber
- Terminating indoor tight buffered multimode and single-mode fiber
- Calculating end-to-end loss budgets in accordance with TIA/EIA standards
The successful candidate will have a strong understanding of fiber optic technology and networking principles, as well as excellent problem-solving skills.
