What are the responsibilities and job description for the Tool Change Tech I - 2nd Shift position at TekniPlex - Schaumburg, IL?

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES* include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

  • Organizes coil/roll stock area and retrieves coil/roll stock from storage area and moves coils/rolls to staging area for production.
  • Ensures that all materials are protected/covered and secure.
  • Powered forklift operations and care - follows all necessary and approved daily and weekly inspections. Will recharge battery and checks at the start of each shift. Completes daily inspection checklist where required.
  • May work without close supervision. Communicates (in a timely manner) to appropriate individuals, regarding problems with orders, quality, shortages, etc.
  • Prepares paperwork correctly and accurately regarding count, weight and delivery; and returns paperwork to appropriate individuals.
  • Safely operates company vehicles. Obtains certification of operation where required.
  • Moves WIP stock materials for staging to all work centers in the factory for production.
  • Utilizes the company computer program and PC software to develop, maintain and generate effective reporting systems that relate to the job function.
  • Loads, unloads, and moves materials within or near plant or work site, performing any combination of following duties: Reads work order or follows oral instructions to ascertain materials or containers to be moved. Will also help as required with shipping and receiving of customer product and raw materials.
  • Loads and unloads materials onto or from pallets, trays, racks, and shelves as related to warehousing of materials.
  • Operates material handling equipment such as forklifts, electric pallet jacks, hand trucks or dollies to move stock or reorganize storage.
  • Performs all necessary and approved transactions to best maintain inventory accuracies in quantity and location.
  • Follows and participates in plant safety/housekeeping guidelines designed to ensure a safe work environment – which includes but is not limited to housekeeping in the immediate and surrounding work area is maintained, wearing personal protective equipment (steel toed shoes) when appropriate, etc.

As Set UP:

  • Installation and/or removal of the gasket die on the punch press
  • Adjust machine parameters, cleaning dies between jobs
  • Maintain maximum press productivity
  • Respond to Op-Techs when issues with a press arise
  • Clean entire machine of foreign particles between set up
  • Promotes safety by:
    • Ensuring the housekeeping in the immediate and surrounding work area is maintained or improved to the highest level possible.
    • Wearing personal protective equipment (eye protection and gloves) when dealing with solvents and heat.
  • Ensures Quality products and processes are maintained by:
    • Understanding and supporting both quality policies and the Quality System.
    • Performing work at a level that ensures quality of this position’s work meets or exceeds internal specifications.
    • Identifying and correcting if possible any identified quality issues in the department.
    • Participating in system or quality based training provided by the company or recommended by the company.

QUALIFICATIONS:

To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required.*

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE

High school diploma or equivalent; or 3 years production related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience. Strong mechanical aptitude.

LANGUAGE SKILLS:

Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos. Ability to write simple correspondence. Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations to customers, clients, and other employees of the organization.

MATHEMATICAL SKILLS:

Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Ability to compute rate, ration, and percent and to draw and interpret bar graphs.

REASONING ABILITY:

Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form. Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.

The employee must frequently lift and/or move up to 50 pounds, and regularly lift and/or move up to 100 pounds (using lifting devices like hoist). Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.
