What are the responsibilities and job description for the Maintenance Mechanic Millwright - 3rd Shift position at TekniPlex?
This position calls for a person that has knowledge, experience, and or education in mechanical maintenance practices, a person who can multi-task overcome challenges and implement the solution. This person must be capable of performing all employee tasks and other duties as required and assigned. Must be willing and capable of learning basic electrical skills and adhering to all safety regulations and requirements.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned
- Inspecting and examining machinery and equipment to detect irregularities and malfunctions.
- Adjusting machinery and repairing or replacing defective parts. Performing break down analysis to determine root cause of failure.
- Operating welders, grinders, acetylene torch, metal cutting saws ext... to fabricate parts required during installation, overhaul, maintenance or setup of machines.
- Complete mechanical changeovers to production equipment including flange, spool hubs, traverse and bander settings. Change out equipment on production lines per customer orders or because equipment is down and not repairable in reasonable amount of time.
- Participating in the Preventive Maintenance Program on all equipment for continuous improvement of all machines.
- Cleaning, lubrication and performing other routine maintenance work on machines.
- Entering detailed and accurate maintenance reports and work orders into the CMMS software.
- Must be able to operate powered industrial vehicles safely, including Fork lift, Scissor lift and Ariel lifts.
- Maintain a clean and environmentally safe work area.
- Adhering to workplace safety policies, regulations and compliances and active participation in company safety programs.
- Must be able to pass all requirements to become an “Electrically Authorized” employee in accordance with NFPA 70E and company Electrical Safety Program.
- Must perform indicated duties in an efficient, timely manner and to an acceptable quality of workmanship.
- Ability to read meters, schematic diagrams, measuring instruments and basic computer skills.
Qualifications:

Education and/or Experience
- Minimum high school education or equivalent.
- Minimum 2 years of industrial mechanical millwright experience.
- Proficient use of Mig, Tig Welding and use of Oxyacetylene torch.
- Basic knowledge of electrical systems.
- Working knowledge of common mechanical principles of lubrication, bearings, seals, drive systems, gears, clutches and brakes.
- Must have good mechanical maintenance, trouble shooting skills
Language Skills
Fluent in English, both verbal and written. Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions and procedure manuals. Ability to write reports and procedures using Microsoft Office environment, and legibly complete time cards and work orders. Ability to read, analyze, and interpret technical procedures and read blueprints and technical drawings, such as machine, mechanical, pneumatic, hydraulic, and electrical. Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations including the maintenance staff and other employees of the organization. Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers, and auditors.
Mathematics Skills
Ability to add, subtract, multiply and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Ability to compute rate, ratios, and percentages to practical situations.
REASONING ABILITY:
Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form. Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions. Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is on occasion exposed to mechanical moving parts, live electrical circuits for testing purposes, heights up to 40 feet in man lifts, fumes, airborne particles, and noise levels that require hearing protection. Exposure to outside environments of extreme heat, cold and wet conditions are possible. Travel via car may be required for outside training events.
