Job Summary:
In this role, the maintenance mechanic supports production and quality of machinery and mechanical equipment by performing preventive maintenance on rotating equipment, motors, pneumatics, hydraulics, conveyor systems, and production machines; following diagrams, sketches, operations manuals, manufacturer's instructions, and engineering specifications & troubleshooting malfunctions.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Adhere to all company Enviro/Health/Safety rules.
- Troubleshoot machine problems and make emergency repairs or changes as necessary to mechanical systems. If temporary repairs are made, follow up and ensure permanent repairs have been performed.
- Perform preventive maintenance inspections, safety checks and housekeeping assignments on equipment (maintain records as necessary).
- Evaluate recommend and/or implement changes to improve machine health as needed
- Redline prints and update procedures as needed. Maintain appropriate documentation.
- Evaluate parts requirements for new or existing equipment and make recommendations for stocked parts. Research locate and order appropriate parts as needed
- Assist with modifications, capital projects & Plant/Equipment improvements as required.
- Communicate with vendors support groups and management about equipment issues
- Perform OJT duties to provide trainees with good working knowledge process and equipment
- Suggest/implement improvements in Environmental, Health and safety procedures.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Strong Mechanical aptitude, excellent analytical and problem-solving skills
- Machine Shop experience
- Knowledge of mechanical equipment and components
- Ability to read and understand blueprints and drawings
- Detailed -oriented with strong organizational skills
- Proficient in using precision measuring instruments
- Ability to work and think independently and work as a team member
- Willingness and ability to perform OJT duties
- Ability to effectively communicate with operations associates, vendors and support groups
- Knowledge of Pneumatics and Hydraulics
- Welding & Metal working abilities a plus
