As a Test Engineer, you will be instrumental in designing and implementing both In-Process and Final Quality tests to ensure the functionality and quality of our products. A solid understanding of powertrain layouts, functions, and failure modes is essential for this role.
Key Responsibilities
- Design, develop, and implement efficient, scalable, and cost-effective testing processes for drivetrain components.
- Utilize knowledge of control system components, including sensors, transducers, and gauges.
- Work with PLCs or equivalent data acquisition systems, such as WMA or VMC test systems.
- Align test processes with product specifications and Caterpillar’s manufacturing standards.
- Plan and execute process designs while analyzing requirements to recommend enhancements for facility systems, processes, equipment, and engineering product designs.
- Undertake specialized and broad assignments/projects that require collaboration with various functions.
- Evaluate projects, preparing feasibility studies to design test systems, define desired outcomes, assess value propositions, and establish project plans.
- Analyze test tooling and product test failures, evaluating tool characteristics and requirements.
- Support physical validation processes.
- Comprehensive understanding of semi-skilled and fully skilled processes.
- Expertise in mechanical control system engineering.
- Strong product knowledge related to manufacturing and product validation.
- Proficient in test processes for products.
- A minimum of 2-3 years of experience in component testing, with knowledge of related control system components.
- Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Product Development, Validation, or Control System Engineering.
