This includes mechanical, electrical, and conditioning tests, as well as length, OD, and visual inspections. The role requires 85% lab work and 15% desk work, with a focus on following written and verbal instructions accurately.

Job Description
The R&D Technician II will assist with performing a variety of tests on medical devices, specifically heart catheters, under the direction of professional engineers. This includes mechanical, electrical, and conditioning tests, as well as length, OD, and visual inspections. The role requires 85% lab work and 15% desk work, with a focus on following written and verbal instructions accurately.
Key Responsibilities
- Conduct testing on medical devices (mechanical, electrical, conditioning, visual inspections).
- Perform data analysis and prepare reports for use in scientific and engineering research.
- Follow Good Documentation Practices (GDP) when drafting or working with data sheets.
- Communicate clearly with engineers about test results, problems, and possible solutions.
- Use a variety of tools and equipment such as calipers, multimeters, MTS, digital thermometers, and Force Gages.
- Ensure compliance with safety guidelines and use appropriate safety devices.
- Experience: 1-4 years in medical device testing or related fields (R&D or product building experience is acceptable).
- Familiarity with test methods in a lab environment.
- Ability to follow both written and verbal instructions accurately.
- Strong time management and prioritization skills.
- Detail-oriented with experience in creating or managing data sheets.
- Familiarity with equipment/tools like calipers, MTS, multimeters, Force Gage, LabView.
- Knowledge of Microsoft Office.
- Comfortable working in a team environment and contributing to collaborative projects.
- BS degree preferred (other disciplines are acceptable if the candidate enjoys working hands-on with testing).
- Note: A BS in Engineering is considered overqualified for this role, as the primary function is testing rather than designing medical devices.
