Job Description
As a Maintenance Technician in our pet food plant, you will play a crucial role in ensuring the smooth operation of our production machinery and facilities. You will be responsible for performing preventative maintenance, troubleshooting equipment issues, and completing repairs to minimize downtime and optimize productivity.
2nd shift, and 3rd shift are currently open. Our facility is located in Harvard, IL.
Key Responsibilities
Conduct routine inspections of production equipment to identify potential issues and ensure optimal performance. Perform preventive maintenance tasks according to established schedules to minimize equipment breakdowns. Respond promptly to equipment breakdowns and troubleshoot mechanical, electrical, and pneumatic issues. Diagnose faults and repair or replace defective components such as motors, bearings, belts, and sensors. Utilize technical manuals, schematics, and diagnostic equipment to aid in troubleshooting and repair activities. Collaborate with production operators and other maintenance team members to address maintenance needs and prioritize tasks. Document maintenance activities, including repairs performed, parts used, and equipment status updates. Assist in the installation, commissioning, and modification of equipment to improve efficiency and reliability. Adhere to safety protocols and procedures to ensure a safe working environment for yourself and others. Participate in training programs to stay updated on new equipment, technologies, and maintenance techniques.
Qualifications
High school diploma or equivalent; technical certification or relevant vocational training preferred. Proven experience as a maintenance technician in a manufacturing or industrial environment, preferably in the food industry. Strong mechanical aptitude with knowledge of electrical, pneumatic, and hydraulic systems. Ability to read technical manuals, blueprints, and schematics. Proficiency in troubleshooting equipment issues and performing repairs in a timely manner. Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail. Effective communication skills and the ability to work collaboratively in a team environment. Flexibility to work rotating shifts, weekends, and overtime as needed.
