Job Description :
Norfolk Southern Corporation is seeking a skilled F5 Network Engineer responsible for supporting IP data and telecommunications network connectivity across its enterprise data center environments. This role focuses on leveraging expertise in F5 architecture and operations within complex enterprise networks. The candidate will primarily manage F5 networks while also supporting Cisco WAN / LAN Infoblox IP Address Management (IPAM) and Palo Alto firewalls .
Responsibilities :
Configure implement and manage F5 load balancing .
Design deploy and maintain an enterprise network infrastructure .
Provide operational support for data center networking.
Utilize network monitoring tools to ensure rapid incident response.
Identify network device abnormalities document findings and develop mitigation strategies.
Develop and deliver training on F5 technology to frontline operations teams.
Administer and update existing iRules and policies .
Work autonomously and as part of a team to drive projects to successful completion.
Apply advanced problemsolving critical thinking and project planning skills .
Develop and maintain technical documentation .
Manage multiple ongoing projects with the ability to pivot quickly as priorities shift.
Participate in an oncall rotation to provide afterhours support when necessary.
Required Skills :
5 years of expertise with F5 BIGIP architecture including LTM GTM (DNS) and advanced modules .
Experience configuring managing and troubleshooting F5 host VCMP and tenant environments.
Strong proficiency in writing debugging and optimizing iRules and iControl REST API integrations .
Ability to design and implement enterprisegrade F5 solutions including BIGIQ management and automation strategies.
Solid background in Cisco network administration including Nexus platforms and advanced routing protocols (OSPF BGP ISIS).
Indepth knowledge of networking protocols and technologies such as Multicast QoS VLANs etc.
Desired Skills :
Experience with cloud networking solutions and security considerations .
Handson experience with Cisco ACI network environments .
Familiarity with F5 TMOS to BIGIP Next migration strategies .
Proficiency with Palo Alto NextGeneration Firewalls and Panorama administration .
Experience with Change Incident and Problem Management using ServiceNow .
Working directly with OEMs to troubleshoot problems identify bugs and develop a platform roadmap.
F5 Certified Technical Specialist Local Traffic Manager (CTSLTM) certification is a plus.
