The BigCommerce Architect is responsible for designing and implementing scalable, high-performance eCommerce solutions using BigCommerce. They work closely with business stakeholders, development teams, and solution architects to define architecture, integrations, and best practices.
Key Responsibilities:
- Define the overall architecture and technical roadmap for BigCommerce implementations.
- Design, develop, and implement scalable eCommerce solutions on BigCommerce, including headless commerce architectures.
- Lead technical discussions and provide architectural guidance to development teams.
- Integrate BigCommerce with third-party services, ERP, CRM, PIM, OMS, and payment gateways.
- Optimize site performance, security, and scalability.
- Define coding standards, best practices, and reusable components.
- Work closely with UI/UX teams to ensure seamless customer experiences.
- Conduct code reviews and troubleshoot performance and security issues.
- Stay up to date with BigCommerce releases, APIs, and industry trends.
- Provide leadership in decision-making regarding technology choices, development approaches, and deployment strategies.
Requirements:
- 8 years of experience in eCommerce development, with at least 3 years on BigCommerce.
- Strong experience in BigCommerce Stencil theme development, APIs, and headless commerce.
- Expertise in JavaScript, Node.js, React.js, or Vue.js for frontend development.
- Experience integrating BigCommerce with third-party applications using RESTful APIs, GraphQL, and Webhooks.
- Deep understanding of performance optimization, caching strategies, and security best practices.
- Hands-on experience with CI/CD pipelines, cloud infrastructure, and deployment strategies.
- Strong knowledge of eCommerce workflows, product catalogs, checkout processes, and payment processing.
- Experience with composable commerce, MACH (Microservices, API-first, Cloud-native, Headless) architecture is a plus.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to handle complex projects.
- Excellent communication skills and experience working in agile teams.
