Position Overview
As a Fiber Optic FAE (Field Application Engineer) focusing on transceivers and video extenders, your primary responsibility will be to ensure the quality, functionality, and reliability of our products through rigorous testing and comprehensive technical documentation. This role demands a combination of hands-on testing expertise, technical product documentation and customer support experience.
This position reports to the Operations Director. It also offers growth prospects for a senior Product Manager role within 1-2 years.
Responsibilities
Product Testing
- Design and implement test plans and procedures for fiber optic transceivers and video extenders to ensure compliance with industry standards and specifications.
- Conduct performance, reliability, and interoperability tests to validate product functionality and identify potential issues.
- Collaborate with the engineering team to troubleshoot and resolve technical challenges encountered during testing.
Technical Documentation
- Develop and maintain detailed technical documents, including test reports, product specifications, user manuals, application notes, and datasheets.
- Ensure all documentation clearly communicates product features, functionalities, and performance characteristics.
- Work with cross-functional teams to gather accurate technical information and ensure the completeness of documentation.
Product Technical Support
- Provide technical support to sales, customer service, and product development teams, offering insights from testing and documentation.
- Assist customers in understanding product specifications, troubleshooting issues, and providing technical guidance.
- Coordinate with partners and suppliers to secure and verify technical, quality, and reliability documentation and processes.
Customization Assistance
- Collaborate with Sales to identify opportunities requiring product customization and ensure proper fit.
- Communicate business and technical needs to partners and suppliers, obtaining the necessary technical and commercial information to secure customization projects.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in electrical engineering, optical engineering, or related field. Master's degree is a plus.
- 3 to 5 years of experience in fiber optics or telecommunications industry, with a focus on product testing and technical documentation.
- Proficient in performing various types of tests related to fiber optic transceivers and video extenders.
- Strong understanding of fiber optics technology, optical communication principles, and industry standards (e.g., MSA, IEEE, ITU-T).
- Excellent technical writing skills with the ability to create clear and concise technical documentation.
- Detail-oriented, analytical mindset with problem-solving abilities.
- Familiarity with test equipment and tools used in fiber optic testing.
