ABOUT THE ROLE
The Project Superintendent plays a critical field management role overseeing the daily operations of dredging and construction projects. Reporting directly to the Project Manager and/or Operations Manager, this position ensures all aspects of project execution are carried out efficiently, safely, and in alignment with contractual obligations.
RESPONSIBILITIES
- Participate in pre-bid meetings and assist in project estimation.
- Review and interpret construction plans and specifications.
- Develop work plans, schedules, budgets, and mobilization strategies.
- Assist in selecting project personnel and equipment.
- Meet with clients to discuss goals, challenges, and risk mitigation.
- Oversee project mobilization, field setup, task assignments, and demobilization.
- Supervise project and field engineers as well as dredge operations staff.
- Manage crew logistics and ensure accurate reporting, including daily logs, production data, and safety metrics.
- Monitor and analyze production performance to optimize output.
- Ensure compliance with procurement procedures.
- Control project costs, including labor, fuel, and consumables.
- Participate in environmental and safety initiatives in accordance with state and federal regulations.
- Enforce compliance with company safety protocols and policies.
- Perform other related tasks as assigned by management.
REQUIREMENTS
- Proven ability to supervise construction projects up to $10M.
- Proficient in reading and interpreting construction documents, plans, and specifications.
- Strong analytical, organizational, and decision-making skills.
- Effective verbal and written communication skills.
- Willingness to travel and work at remote project locations for extended durations.
- Valid TWIC (or ability to obtain).
- High level of motivation, reliability, and leadership.
- Familiarity with dredging operations is a plus.
- Team-oriented with strong stress management and composure under pressure.
Physical & Environmental Requirements
- Ability to lift and carry up to 30 lbs: up to 60 lbs with assistance.
- Capable of pushing/pulling up to 150 lbs.
- Ability to work in confined spaces and at heights.
- Exposure to outdoor conditions, including temperature variations, dust, humidity, and loud environments.
- Must wear and properly use PPE such as hard hats, safety glasses, ear protection, life vests, and steel-toed boots.
