Description
One of TEKsystems clients is looking for support with data center services for several sites throughout Florida. This position would support the data center operations team. The Data Center Technician will perform a key role in delivering the core infrastructure and foundation technologies for Corporate data centers and Grid Control Systems.
Responsibilities
As a successful Data Center Technician, your performance objectives include:
A strong desire and capability to learn, grow, and develop new skills
Empower a culture of safety, security, and compliance in all aspect of data center activities
Establish and enhance strong working relationships with various internal teams and external suppliers
Understand overall ticket management and change management processes
Perform equipment power cycles, swap out failed components, handle storage media, and perform troubleshooting
Perform cable installations, hardware rack / stack installations and decommissions, testing, and troubleshooting using standard data center processes
Installation and/or removal of all hardware in data center white floor areas including server cabinets, cabinet hardware, servers and other hardware appliances
Supporting deployment of on-site DC physical infrastructure including Servers, Network Devices, SANS, Main Frames
Supporting parts/component replacement and physical hardware troubleshooting
Maintain Data Center Inventory and support Asset Management Team with maintaining the CMDB accurate
Support for shipping/receiving and consumables inventory management to address work volumes
Assist with acquisition and inventory of data center supplies and equipment
Support business continuation planning and disaster recovery backup solutions;
Ensures compliance with service-level policies and all regulatory controls.
Qualifications
High School Diploma or equivalent
1 year of experience supporting IT equipment or related technology
Ability to support frequent standing, walking, lifting, and working at heights
Preferred Qualifications:
Technical College degree in Computer Science, Math, Telecommunications, or equivalent work experience
Applicable certifications: CompTIA, Microsoft, Network Certifications
Basic working knowledge of CE infrastructures (e.g. UPS, Generator, AHU, etc.)
Experience operating heavy-load movement equipment (pallet jacks, chassis lifts, etc.)
Safety programs and policies, and compliance knowledge
Flexibility to work non-business hours (shifts) that may include weekends and/or holidays
40 hour work week (Mon-Fri)
Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $16.00 - $24.00/hr.
